In the wake of Carnell Lake‘s unexpected departure from the program, head coach Rick Neuheisel has completed a minor tweaking of his UCLA coaching staff this afternoon, the school announced this afternoon.
Clark Lea garnered a promotion in the shuffling, moving from a graduate assistant position to linebackers coach. Lea, worked with the Bruins’ LBs this past season, but will now officially be in charge of the unit.
“Clark is an outstanding young coach with a very bright future,” Neuheisel said in a statement. “I thought he did a fine job this past season with our group of linebackers. In addition, he is a dogged recruiter. Even though he was not allowed to go off-campus, he made a great impression on recruits and their families when they came to campus and built great relationships with several of the young men who signed with us, most notably Aramide Olaniyan.”
Additionally, Tim Hundley, who coached safeties last season, will now be responsible for the entire secondary after left left the program due to “family reasons”.
