In the middle of a busy football weekend, Notre Dame began its 2016 recruiting class with a key building block. Blue-chip offensive line recruit Tommy Kraemer pledged his commitment to the Irish, the first member of the junior class to commit to Notre Dame.
Kraemer is a Cincinnati product from Elder, the same program that brought Kyle Rudolph to South Bend. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder chose Notre Dame over Ohio State and Michigan. He’s currently the No. 20 overall prospect in Rivals100 for the 2016 class, the No. 3 offensive line prospect in the nation.
The junior tackle was just one of many key recruits on campus this weekend, including West Coast prospects Frank Buncom and Equanimeous St. Brown, as well as current Penn State commit, quarterback Brandon Wimbush. While early reports are coming back understandably positive even with yesterdays miserable weather, Kraemer was ready to end his recruitment almost two years before he’ll take his first snap for Notre Dame.
Kraemer made the news official on Saturday from Notre Dame Stadium, tweeting out the following message.
