Rutgers’ Lefeged doubles up on Big East honors

For the first time in the history of the Big East, a player has been named both the Defensive andthe Special Teams Player of the Week, by the conference.

The Scarlet Knights were being hosted by Florida International Saturday evening. Rutgers’senior strong safety Joe Lefeged played a huge role in the take down of the Panthers bymaking huge plays on both the defensive side of the ball and on special teams.

Along with his six tackles and one pass break-up, Lefeged recorded an interception, blocked twopunts and forced two fumbles.

Lefeged’s plays were huge for Rutgers, with his interception and one of his blocked puntssetting up Scarlet Knight touchdowns. Rutgers won the game by a final score of 19-14.
