SON OF SIMMS TO TRANSFER

Quarterback Matt Simms, the son of former NFL quarterback Phil Simms, is leaving the University of Louisville, according to Brian Bennett of ESPN.com.The younger Simms opted to stick with Louisville after former coach Bobby Petrino jumped to the Falcons. But Simms was suspended four games during the 2008 season, for violating team rules.Simms was expected to enter spring practice as the starter. It leaves the team with no quarterbacks having game experience, and the competition for the starting job is expected to wide open.Bennett reports that Simms might enroll in a junior college.
