Maryland may have let one get away from them this past weekend against Rutgers, but the Terrapins will be ending their first season in the Big Ten with a bowl trip. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs appears ready to be a part of that postseason trip. Junior punter Nate Renfro will join the team for the bowl game, but he will head in a new direction afterward.
The Washington Post reports Diggs will return to practice at Maryland later this week. Diggs, who missed Maryland’s final two games of the season due to a kidney injury suffered during Maryland’s road win at Penn State on November 1, is expected to return on Friday. Friday will be Maryland’s first postseason practice scheduled, but Maryland head coach Randy Edsall said Diggs would be medically cleared to be available when Maryland begins preparing for its bowl game and match-up.
The Washington Post also reports Renfro is expected to transfer to another program. Renfro will graduate this month, but it is unclear at this time if he will leave football behind or search for another program to continue playing.
Bowl games and match-ups will be made official on Sunday after conference championship games and any remaining regular season games are played.
