Tate a unanimous All-American

It’s official. Golden Tate is a unanimous All-American, the first Irish football player since Shane Walton was a unanimous selection after his sterling 2002 season.

Tate was named to the first team of the American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, Associated Press, Walter Camp, and Sporting News, the five teams that the NCAA uses to determine unanimous selections.

(He was also named first team by ESPN and Sports Illustrated, but who’s counting, right?)

The Biletnikoff winning receiver dazzled Irish fans this season, scoring 18 touchdowns and nearly 1,700 yards from scrimmage during his junior season. He’ll likely be one of the first wide receivers picked in next year’s NFL draft.
