A little over a month after being knocked out of the West Virginia game, and the rest of the regular season, with a fractured ankle, Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros has returned to full practice for the first time and may be close to being cleared to play in the Liberty Bowl.
“He continues to make remarkable progress,” coach Butch Jones said. “It was the first time he had game-speed repetitions. He threw the ball crisp, he moved his feet. He’s not 100 percent, but it was great to see him out there.
“It’s still too early to tell,” Jones said. “The big thing now is to see how his body reacts.”
The Cincinnati Enquirer writes that Collaros threw and ran into Friday’s practice, although the senior wasn’t running at full speed. Jones has listed Collaros as “50-50" for the bowl against Vanderbilt.
Collaros threw for 1854 yards and recorded 22 total touchdowns.
