DeAndre Washington was held without a touch in the Dolphins’ Week 15 win over the Patriots.
If Washington played a snap, we didn’t see it. With Salvon Ahmed back from his shoulder injury, the Dolphins committed to Matt Breida as their No. 2. With Myles Gaskin hopefully returning from the COVID-19 list in Week 16 against the Raiders, Washington could become a healthy scratch.

  • IND Running Back #36
Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) is questionable for Week 15 against New England.
Ahmed is trending toward suiting up against the Patriots. He could resume lead-back duties if Myles Gaskin remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list. If Ahmed and Gaskin can’t go, it’ll again be DeAndre Washington taking the lead back role for Miami. Ahmed would be a low-end RB2 play if he’s active and Gaskin is not.

Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) was limited during Thursday’s practice.
Ahmed has missed two straight games with the shoulder injury but has now practiced on a limited basis two days in a row. He’s trending toward suiting up in Week 15 against the Patriots.

  • FA Running Back #43
Patrick Laird rushed four times for 19 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 14 loss to the Chiefs, adding one reception for four yards.
Laird saw just one target in three quarters of negative game script against KC. Meanwhile, DeAndre Washington served as the team’s primary back with Myles Gaskin on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Laird would probably need Washington to miss time and Gaskin to remain on the COVID-19 list to have fantasy relevance.

  • FA Running Back
DeAndre Washington rushed 13 times for 35 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 14 loss to the Chiefs, adding two receptions for 17 yards.
Washington was the last man standing in the Dolphins’ backfield after Myles Gaskin was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday. The veteran was serviceable against his former team. He was unable to punch in a goal line carry late in the ballgame after an impressive Miami drive. Washington might retain fantasy relevance next week against New England if Gaskin misses another game on the COVID-19 list.

  • IND Running Back #36
Dolphins declared RB Salvon Ahmed, FB Chandler Cox, LB Elandon Roberts, LB Kyle Van Noy, LG Ereck Flowers, and DT Benito Jones inactive for Week 14 against Kansas City.
Ahmed’s injury and Myles Gaskin being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list clear the way for DeAndre Washington to operate as Miami’s lead back against his former team. Washington had 13 carries and saw five targets when he served as the team’s primary running back in Week 12 against the Jets. He should be regarded as a mid-range RB2 option against KC. Patrick Laird has some PPR appeal as a flex option, especially if game script turns against Miami.

DeAndre Washington will be the Dolphins’ Week 14 starter at running back against the Chiefs.
With Myles Gaskin joining Matt Breida on the COVID-19 list while Salvon Ahmed nurses a shoulder injury, Washington is the last man standing. He was limited in Wednesday and Thursday’s practices after missing Week 13 with a hamstring issue, but he was removed from the injury report on Friday. Washington will be backed up by a highly-ineffective Patrick Laird and practice squad back Elijah McGuire. The Chiefs are more vulnerable on the ground than through the air, so there is a very realistic path to 12-14 touches, and more if Washington’s hamstring holds up. He is in the low-end RB2/FLEX mix for the first week of the fantasy playoffs.

  • SEA Running Back #33
Dolphins placed RB Myles Gaskin on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Good grief. With Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) and Matt Breida (COVID-19) already out, DeAndre Washington will lead the Dolphins’ backfield despite some limited practices this week with his hamstring issue. He will be backed up by Patrick Laird and practice squad promotee Elijah McGuire. Provided his hamstring is good to go, Washington will be in line for at least 12-14 touches, and quite likely more. He is a FLEX who could push for RB2 status in the first week of the fantasy playoffs. As for Gaskin, he could return for Week 15 if he is merely a “close contact.” If he’s COVID positive, he will be ineligible to suit up before Week 16.

Dolphins RB DeAndre Washington (hamstring) remained “limited” in Thursday’s practice.
Washington has a shot at returning against the Chiefs after missing Week 13. With Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) trending toward out, Washington would see a handful of change-of-pace touches behind Myles Gaskin where the Dolphins are going to have to get creative to spring the upset. With all 32 teams playing for Week 14, Washington lacks FLEX appeal, even in PPR leagues.

  • SF Running Back
Matt Breida (illness) did not practice Friday.
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores wouldn’t say if Breida’s illness was COVID-19. He’s uncertain to play in Week 13 against the Bengals. Myles Gaskin (knee), despite practicing over the past two weeks, might not come off injured reserve in time for the team’s Week 13 game. Meanwhile, DeAndre Washington (hamstring) and Salvon Ahmed (shoulder) are out. Miami “will likely lean on Breida -- if he can play -- and Patrick Laird” if Gaskin is out. There’s not a whole lot of fantasy value in Miami’s backfield if Gaskin is inactive though. Rookie Lynn Bowden is a speculative add in deeper leagues ahead of Week 13.
