Raiders TE Derek Carrier suffered a torn pec and will miss the remainder of the season.
The 31-year-old tight end is primarily a special teams player. When he takes the field on offense, it’s exclusively as a blocker. He has two receptions on the year. His absence could open up some snaps for Foster Moreau.

  • FA Tight End
Raiders re-signed TE Derek Carrier to a one-year contract.
  • FA Tight End
The Raiders, Broncos, and Seahawks have shown interest in Beloit WR Derek Carrier.
The three-sport (basketball, track) star clocked a 4.49 forty while posting a 40-inch vertical at 6'3/238 in what was described as a “great workout” at his pro day. He was also productive last season with 75 catches and 12 TDs. Although the competition was weak and Carrier often plays stiff, he’s in line to become the first Beloit player to be drafted into the NFL since the 1950s.
  • FA Tight End
Raiders signed TE Derek Carrier, formerly of the Rams, to a three-year contract.
An undrafted journeyman out of Beloit College, the Raiders will be Carrier’s fourth team in five years. Carrier played scarcely last season, logging only 185 snaps over 14 games for the Rams. The 27-year-old was previously coached by Jon Gruden’s brother Jay in Washington.
  • FA Tight End
Eagles waived TE Derek Carrier, DE Eddie McClam, WR Nick Miller, OT Nic Purcell, OL Isaac Remington, TE Will Shaw, DT Daryell Walker, LS James Winchester, and P Brad Wing.
They also waived/injured S Eddie Whitley after a preseason injury. Donnie Jones beat out Wing to be Chip Kelly’s punter. Carrier is an excellent athlete, but never made headway up a deep tight end depth chart in Philly.
  • FA Tight End
Redskins TE Derek Carrier (knee) could open the season on reserve/PUP.
Carrier is seven months removed from tearing his ACL. He isn’t going to be rushed back with Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen returning. Carrier will compete for a backup role when healthy.
  • FA Tight End
Redskins placed TE Derek Carrier (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.
A depth piece, Carrier tore his ACL and MCL last December. He’ll be first eligible to return in Week 7.
  • FA Tight End
Redskins TE Derek Carrier (knee) isn’t expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
Carrier tore his ACL and MCL in Week 14 last season and remains in question for the start of the season. It’s possible he opens the year on reserve/PUP.
  • FA Tight End
Redskins TE Derek Carrier (knee) is expected to practice this week.
Carrier is also eligible to come off the PUP list this week. He needed some extra time to recover from a torn ACL. Even with Jordan Reed sidelined by a concussion, Carrier is unlikely to play a big role. The Redskins also have Vernon Davis and Niles Paul to fill the void at tight end.
  • FA Tight End
Redskins activated TE Derek Carrier (knee) from the PUP.
Carrier opened the season on the PUP after tearing his ACL and MCL last December. He just began practicing Monday, but he is apparently ready to play. Niles Paul landed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury this week, so the Redskins need some help at tight end.
