Athletics placed RHP Mark Leiter Jr. on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 18, with a right hip impingement.

Leiter started slow, but he’d allowed just one run in his last 14 innings of work out of the A’s pen, and he’d recorded three holds as an eighth-inning guy over the last couple of weeks. His absence should result in more late-game work for Mason Barnett.
