Will Warren was hurt by his defense in a losing effort against the Reds on Saturday afternoon, allowing six runs (two earned) on eight hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.
Warren racked up eight strikeouts on the afternoon while allowing two free passes. He allowed a two-run double to Sal Stewart in the third inning and that was the extent of the damage done against him until the Reds erupted for four unearned runs in the fifth following an error by Ben Rice at first base. Warren got nine swings and misses on 90 pitches on the day, registering a solid CSW of 30 percent. Now 7-2 on the season, he’ll bring a 3.45 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and an 84/26 K/BB ratio (78 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s battle against the Red Sox in Boston.
