Jeremy Peña departs game early with trainer

Jeremy Peña left Monday’s game against the Blue Jays with a trainer in the sixth inning.

It’s never a great sign when a hitter departs in the middle of an at-bat after fouling off a pitch. He finished 1-for-2 with a run scored and two stolen bases. The 28-year-old will undergo further evaluation and imaging to determine the severity of this issue. The obvious concern here is a dreaded hamate fracture, which would result in a multi-week absence. There should be an update on his status following the contest.
White Sox 'aren't going away' in second half
With an impressive first half of the season wrapped up, the White Sox picked up where they left off by taking the series in Toronto as they aim to cement their place atop the AL Central.

Wyatt Langford went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss to Atlanta on Sunday.

Langford also doubled and singled. The homer came off Raisel Iglesias in the ninth inning, but still left Texas trailing by three runs. The 24-year-old has put together a solid — but injury-shortened — campaign in 2026 with a slash of .283/.328/.508. It still feels like fantasy managers haven’t seen Langford at his absolute best just yet.

Austin Riley homered twice in a win over the Rangers on Sunday while driving in four runs.

Riley hit a pair of solo homers off Nathan Eovaldi, and he also had a two-run single for good measure. The 29-year-old has not had nearly enough games like this in 2026, as made evident in his slash still sitting at .217/.296/.361 over the first 98 games of the campaign. It’s hard to completely write off Riley because there are flashes of what made him one of the best players at the hot corner in baseball, but it’s still hard to have too much optimism at this stage.

Drake Baldwin went 5-for-5 and homered twice while stealing a base to lead the Braves to an 8-5 win over the Rangers on Sunday.

Baldwin also scored three runs, and both homers were solo shots. The 25-year-old took Nathan Eovaldi deep for the first blast — one of three homers Eovaldi allowed in the contest — and he took Ben People deep for his 18th homer of his strong sophomore campaign. Baldwin is also up to six stolen bases on the year, and his slump in the latter portion of June appears to be well over.

Raisel Iglesias allowed a run in an inning of work in a relief appearance against the Rangers on Sunday.

Not only did Iglesias give up a run — a solo homer to Wyatt Langford — but it came in a non-save situation. He’s had some issues in July, as he entered the game with a 6.00 ERA for the month and it obviously goes up a touch after giving up the roundtripper. Still, Iglesias remains one of the better closers in the sport, and fantasy managers can’t panic over a rough patch.

Paul Skenes allowed one run in seven innings and got the win in the Pirates’ 7-1 victory over the Guardians on Sunday.

Skenes gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out eight. He improved to 9-8 with the win. Skenes picked up where he left off before the All-Star break and now has allowed two runs or less in three consecutive starts. The 24-year-old right-hander has a 3.43 ERA and 3.14 xFIP. He’s lined up to face the Cubs at home next weekend.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched his first MLB regular-season complete game as the Dodgers bested the Yankees 8-2 in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.

Yamamoto, who did throw two complete games in the postseason last year, allowed four hits, walked none and struck out seven in a 102-pitch masterpiece. He gave up a homer to Trent Grisham in the fourth. The other run came in the eighth after center fielder Andy Pages lost Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s flyball in the sun for a double, and Anthony Volpe followed with an RBI single. Yamamoto is the first pitcher to throw a complete game against the Yankees since Sandy Alcantara on Aug. 12, 2023. He’ll take a 10-6 record and a 2.78 ERA into his next outing against the Mets.

Cam Schlittler surrendered three runs in 4 1/3 innings to take a loss to the Dodgers in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader.

Schlittler struck out eight and walked none today. He allowed six hits but just four hard-hit balls. Against another lineup, he probably would have delivered a quality start. The Dodgers, though, put three hits together during a two-run third and forced him to run up his pitch count, resulting in the early exit. Schlittler will likely make his next start Friday against the Phillies.
