Kazuma Okamoto went 2-for-4 and swatted his 18th home run of the season on Thursday night as the Blue Jays fell short against the Rangers.
Okamoto led off the fifth inning with a single off of MacKenzie Gore and scored the Jays’ first run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Davis Schneider. He then made things interesting with a 420-foot (108.1-mph EV) two-run shot off of Jacob Latz in the ninth that pulled the Jays to within a run. That would be as close as they would get though. The rookie third baseman is now hitting .241/.324/.469 with 18 long balls and 51 RBI on the season.
