Adley Rutschman went 0-for-2 with a pair of RBI on Monday in a loss to the White Sox.

Rutschman delivered a pair of sacrifice fly’s to supply all of Baltimore’s offense in a low-scoring affair at Camden Yards until Chicago pulled away in the final frame. The 28-year-old backstop has gone 1-for-5 in a pair of contests since returning from a concussion.
Wood was 'ecstatic' to start Futures Game
Gage Wood lets his intense demeanor on the mound do the talking, but the Phillies' No. 2 prospect was left nearly speechless after learning he would draw the start at the 2026 All-Star Futures Game.

Mets selected the contract of RHP Bryce Conley from Double-A Binghampton.

Conley, 31, has made 20 appearances (18 starts) between Double-A Binghampton and Triple-A Syracuse this season, compiling a miserable 5.89 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a 90/47 K/BB ratio across 91 2/3 innings. He adds a fresh arm capable of working multiple innings to the Mets’ bullpen.

Mets optioned RHP Jonathan Pintaro to Triple-A Syracuse.

Pintaro’s stay with the big league club lasted just two games this time around. The 28-year-old righty has done a decent job overall in six appearances with the Mets this season, posting a 4.40 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a 15/5 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings. We should see him again at some point before the end of the 2026 campaign.

Mets designated RHP Kevin Herget for assignment.

Herget was just promoted from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, but he gets the boot after working a scoreless frame against the Marlins. It’s likely that he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to serve as extra bullpen depth for the Mets at the Triple-A level.

Mets selected the contract of RHP Robert Stock from Triple-A Syracuse.

The 36-year-old right-hander will start for the Mets on Sunday against the Marlins. Stock has made just two appearances in the big leagues since the 2021 season. He has made eight appearances (six starts) in the minors this season, where he has registered a 2.91 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and an intriguing 31/3 K/BB ratio over 21 2/3 innings. He could be worth a look as a streaming option in deeper mixed leagues on Sunday.

Braden Montgomery was scratched from the White Sox’ starting lineup on Sunday due to a superficial skin infection on his right ankle.

The issue isn’t believed to be serious and shouldn’t require a trip to the injured list. Montgomery is considered day-to-day. Everson Pereira will start in his place in right field and bat eighth for the White Sox against Griffin Jax and the Rays on Sunday afternoon in Tampa Bay.

White Sox recalled RHP Duncan Davitt from Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox had a spot open on their active roster after Saturday’s trade with the Mariners, so Davitt gets another chance to show what he can do at the big league level. The 26-year-old righty has pitched just once with the big league club this season, allowing a work in a scoreless inning of work.

Pirates optioned RHP Isaac Mattson to Triple-A Indianapolis.

With Camilo Doval set to join the Pirates’ bullpen on Sunday someone needed to get the boot and it looks like Mattson drew the short straw this time around. Pirates optioned OF Billy Cook to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Cook, 27, has struggled at the dish in his limited action with the Pirates this season, slashing a woeful .200/.200/.267 with zero homers and two RBI in 45 plate appearances. He’ll continue to serve as extra outfield depth at the Triple-A level.

Pirates activated INF Spencer Horwitz from the 10-day injured list.

Horwitz had been sidelined since late June due to a hamstring strain and then suffered a concussion while on his rehab stint that cost him some additional time. His return should provide a nice boost to the Pirates’ offense. Billy Cook was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move on Sunday.

Jesús Sánchez is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Cardinals.

Sánchez returned from the injured list on Friday and has now sat in two consecutive games with opposing left-handers on the hill. It looks like he’ll be used exclusively in that strong-side platoon role with Myles Straw continuing to take his place against southpaws.
