Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed that Keider Montero is being moved to the bullpen.

This was always the logical move with Jack Flaherty back in the mix. It’ll be Framber Valdez taking the ball on Thursday against the Rangers on regular rest. Montero probably deserves a spot in Detroit’s rotation based on his recent performance but it doesn’t sound like they have any plans to move to a six-man mix for now.

Mike Florio explores recent revelations surrounding the search firm Korn Ferry and its role in providing documents to Brian Flores's lawyer, ones that could potentially include a "smoking gun" piece of evidence.

Masyn Winn homered and doubled twice Tuesday in the Cardinals’ 3-0 shutout of the Reds.

Yeah, that Masyn Winn. He had multiple hits for the first time since Aug. 11, homered for the first time since July 3, collected multiple extra-base hits for the first time since July 28, 2025. It’s the first time in 435 career games that he’s delivered three extra-base hits. He’s currently hitting .241/.316/.330 in 484 plate appearances for the season.

Kyle Leahy struck out six in five scoreless innings against the Reds in a victory Tuesday.

The outings are getting shorter for Leahy, but it hasn’t stopped him from going 3-0 while pitching the bare minimum of 15 innings this month. He’s 5-0 since his last loss way back on June 17. He’s currently slated to face the Phillies on Sunday, but the Cardinals could consider adding a spot starter and pushing him back to Tuesday.

Riley O’Brien recorded his 32nd save with a flawless ninth against the Reds on Tuesday.

O’Brien struck out Eugenio Suárez for the second straight day to finish off the save. It was his seventh straight hitless inning in a row.

Andrew Abbott yielded two runs in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Abbott just isn’t going to get much help over the rest of the season. The quality start tonight was his seventh in his last 15 outings, but he’s just 2-6 during that span, leaving him 6-8 with a 4.07 ERA overall. He’ll pitch in Arizona on Sunday.

Jo Adell knocked in a career-high six with a three-run homer and a pair of singles Tuesday to power the Guardians past the Giants 8-1.

Adell’s homer came in the first, a couple of pitches after he fouled a pitch off his left knee and looked like he might need to leave the game. He did eventually depart in the eighth with the Guardians up seven, but one imagines he’ll be good to go Wednesday. Adell is just 10-for-46 since joining the Guardians, but with three homers and four doubles, he’s collected 11 RBI in 13 games. The homer tonight was his 19th overall.

Foster Griffin improved to 14-4 by limiting the Giants to one run over six innings on Tuesday.

He struck out six. Griffin has won two out of three for the Guardians, allowing 10 runs — seven earned — over 15 innings in the process. He’ll pitch in Colorado next time out, but that’s probably fine.

Carson Whisenhunt surrendered seven runs — six earned — in four innings Tuesday in a loss to the Guardians.

Matt Wilkinson is being promoted without the promise of a rotation spot, but it seems like it’d be fine to give him Whisenhunt’s. This drops Whisenhunt to 3-4 with a 7.03 ERA and a 23/20 K/BB in 32 innings over seven starts. Middle relief might suit him better, given that he has just one above average pitch (his changeup). If he stays in the rotation, Whisenhunt will face the Red Sox on Sunday.

Steven Kwan singled, walked twice and scored three times against the Giants on Tuesday.

Kwan is hitting .385/.472/.462 since the All-Star break. There’s probably some luck involved there, but it’s evening out all of the misfortune he had in the first half. His bat speed has diminished and he’s probably not going to resume hitting a couple of homers per month, but he’s back to making the most of his skill set.

Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer to power the Dodgers to a 7-6 win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Ohtani took Ryan Feltner deep in the third inning for a two-run blast to extend the Dodgers’ lead, a 448-foot homer to right-center field. The home run was Ohtani’s 30th of the season, giving him six straight 30-homer campaigns. The 32-year-old star is hitting .294/.390/.558 with 82 runs scored, 80 RBI, and seven steals across 535 plate appearances.

Willi Castro went 2-for-3 with a home run, three runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the Dodgers on Tuesday.

Castro had an excellent day at the plate, starting with a stolen base in the first inning after reaching on a fielder’s choice. He then drew a walk and scored in the third, followed by a solo homer off Eric Lauer in the fifth. Castro later walked and scored again in the eighth before driving in a run with a single in the ninth. The 29-year-old infielder is hitting a solid .265/.336/.426 with 14 homers, 60 runs scored, 52 RBI, and nine steals across 429 plate appearances.
