Royals option Jose Cuas to Triple-A Omaha

Dallas delivered a brilliant performance out of the bullpen on Wednesday against the Royals, retiring all eight hitters that he faced in order — four of them via the strikeout. Unfortunately, he wasn’t going to be available for the next couple of days, so the club replaced him on the roster with Michael Lorenzen. It shouldn’t take him long to earn another opportunity at the MLB level.

Sasaki was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Braves after the blister issue cropped up. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for, but he’ll miss at least one trip through the Dodgers’ rotation. Eric Lauer will move back from the bullpen to take his place in the club’s six-man rotation for the time being.

With Roki Sasaki (blister) landing on the injured list, Halvorsen will return to add a fresh arm to the club’s bullpen for at least a few days. The 26-year-old righty holds a 4.50 ERA, 1.90 WHIP and a 17/16 K/BB ratio over 20 innings between the Dodgers and Rockies this season.

Kim delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to propel the Braves to victory over the Dodgers, and seemingly as a reward he gets his name on the lineup card the next day. He has been abysmal at the plate this season, hitting .078 (6-for-77) with no homers, five RBI and a 23/9 K/BB ratio in 86 plate appearances.

The 28-year-old superstar has really struggled since his return from the injured list in late July, slashing a woeful .188/.248/.366 with six homers, 13 RBI, three swipes and a 33/8 K/BB ratio over 121 plate appearances. A day off to clear his head against Dodgers’ right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto isn’t the worst idea in the world. Mike Yastremzki will start in his place in right field and bat seventh for the Braves.

The 36-year-old hurler was lit up for seven runs on 10 hits and a pair of walks over four innings against the Brewers on Wednesday, so there were obvious concerns over whether or not he’d get a chance to take the ball again. Green noted that the team is monitoring their options in the minor leagues, specifically Jonah Tong, who will make at least one more start at Triple-A Syracuse before rosters expand for September.

May was pulled from Wednesday’s start against the Mets after he was drilled in the shoulder by a 106-mph line drive off the bat of Mets’ outfielder A.J. Ewing on the very first pitch of the ballgame. It sounds like there’s a realistic possibility that the Brewers will turn him loose on Sunday while shifting the rest of the rotation back a day.

Jordan appeared to roll his ankle while stretching to make an awkward tag at third base. He needed to be helped off the field by Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol and the training staff as he was unable to put weight on it. He’ll head for further evaluation and imaging to determine the extent of the injury. Nolan Gorman replaced him at third base and could be in line for increased action if Jordan is forced to miss any time.

Lile is on a tear, hitting .300/.344/.483 over his last 15 games with three homers and two stolen bases. The Rockies even intentionally walked him at one point in this one. Lile isn’t a must-roster player but he’s a potential hot hand in 12-team leagues for managers needing outfield help.

Ruiz doubled off the top of the wall in the seventh inning, a ball that would have gone out of 22 of 30 MLB parks. He didn’t hustle out of the box and could have easily had a triple if he had; he redeemed himself in the ninth with a two-run shot that took the game out of a save situation. Ruiz has been getting hot again, hitting .373/.439/.529 over his last 15 games with two homers, and remains a viable second catcher or streamer in one-catcher leagues.
