Mariners placed OF Julio Rodríguez on the 7-day concussion injured list.

Rodríguez was removed from Thursday’s game against the Angels after he was hit in the back of the head by an errant throw from Nolan Schanuel. The Mariners haven’t given any clear timeline for when he may be able to return, but he’ll have more than a week to pass through the concussion protocol with next week’s All-Star break baked in. Miles Mastrobuoni was promoted from Triple-A Tacoma to take his place on the Mariners’ roster.

The 25-year-old superstar was hit in the back of the head by an errant throw from Nolan Schanuel in the third inning then was seen talking to the training staff before heading into the tunnel. It’s likely that Rodríguez will need to clear the concussion protocol before he’s able to return to the M’s lineup.

Rodríguez drew a walk and scored a run in the third inning, then singled to bring a run home and stole a base in the sixth. He would reach for a third time with a base hit in the eighth. The 25-year-old outfielder had cooled significantly in June, hitting .213 with two homers in the month going into Sunday’s contest. He’s slashing .253/.315/.423 with 14 homers, 44 runs scored, 40 RBI, and 12 steals across 368 plate appearances.

Julio Rodríguez went 1-for-4 and drove in a run on Friday night as the Mariners triumphed over the Guardians in Cleveland.

The 25-year-old superstar added a valuable insurance run with an RBI single off of Daniel Espino in the eighth inning that plated Colt Emerson from second base. He also struck out twice in the ballgame. For the season, Rodríguez is now hitting .247/.307/.421 with 14 long balls, 39 RBI and 11 swipes in 358 plate appearances.

The 25-year-old superstar was held out of action on Thursday due to a hamstring spasm. He’s feeling much improved after the day off though and is right back in center field and batting third for the M’s against Ranger Suarez and the Red Sox on Friday evening in Seattle.

He’s regarded as day-to-day, but it’s not surprising for him to miss a day game after a night game given the hamstring spasms. Miles Mastrobuoni will play left field and push Victor Robles to center as the Mariners take on RHP Shane Baz and the Orioles.

That’s a relief, though as banged up as the team’s offense is at the moment, even a day-to-day injury might be difficult for the Mariners to deal with. The Mariners will likely use Victor Robles in center if Rodríguez can’t play Thursday.

There should be an update on his status following the contest.

The 25-year-old outfielder singled to open the sixth inning and scored the go-ahead run on Josh Naylor’s RBI double. He then worked a one-out walk in the seventh, swiped second and third base before scoring on an RBI single off the bat of Randy Arozarena. Rodríguez appears to be heating up a bit earlier than usual this season, slashing .258/.316/.457 to go along with 13 homers, 32 RBI and nine stolen bases in 291 plate appearances.

Rodríguez brought a run in to score on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, then took Cionel Pérez deep for a solo homer to lead off the sixth. He’s coming off a strong May, hitting 274 with ten homers. The home run on Tuesday was his fifth in nine games. The 25-year-old star outfielder is up to 13 this season while slashing .259/.313/.466 with 33 runs scored, 32 RBI, and five steals across 272 plate appearances.
