Dodgers activated RHP Evan Phillips from the 60-day injured list.

Phillips blossomed into one of the most effective high-leverage relievers in baseball after being acquired by Los Angeles back in 2021. The 31-year-old has finally made it back after undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. He figures to operate in low-leverage spots initially, but should factor into the Dodgers late-inning mix down the home stretch.

Aaron Judge will hit third and play right field in his return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Rockies.

Judge will return to the heart of the order despite not taking any in-game at-bats. He did the same thing in 2023 when he missed two months with a toe injury and returned to go 5-for- 36 in his first nine games. It may take a little bit for him to get back to himself, but the Yankees did give him a soft landing spot here.

Agustín Ramírez, Esteury Ruiz, and Jared Serna are all in the lineup against the Mets on Tuesday.

The Marlins are using a pretty strict platoon lineup these days. Ramírez will DH and hit third, while Ruiz will play right field and bat fifth, and Serna will play second base and hit eighth. Kyle Stowers will shift to the bench for this one, as will Owen Caissie and Graham Pauley, who all play primarily versus righties.

Willson Contreras (hamstring) took pre-game batting practice on Tuesday.

Contreras is eligible to come off the injured list on Thursday, and this would seem to be a good indication that the Red Sox may activate him this weekend. Contreras was playing through a hamstring issue for the better part of a month and was placed on the injured list on August 31st to finally give his leg the time to heal. He will likely not require any rehab appearances, but that remains undecided at this point.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand is not in the Orioles lineup against the Guardians on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old has been rock solid for the Orioles this season, hitting .260/.306/.486 with eight home runs and 31 RBI in 423 games. We should note that he has hit considerably better against lefties and has a .225/.247/.360 slash line against righties. With Encarnacion-Strand out of the lineup on Tuesday, Coby Mayo will DH and hit cleanup, while Blaze Alexander will play third base and bat seventh.

Phillies INF prospect Aidan Miller (back) is moving his rehab to Double-A Reading.

Miller struggled with a back injury in spring training and eventually had to undergo surgery back in June. He began his rehab assignment in Low-A back on September fourth and will now move up to Double-A. He’s not likely to get any MLB at-bats this season, but if he can remain healthy throughout the remainder of the minor league season, he could fight for a lineup spot in 2027.

Jarren Duran is not in the starting lineup against the Angels on Tuesday.

After a solid month of August, Duran has started September going 4-for-27 (.148) with a 32 percent strikeout rate. Despite the fact that he’s hitting better against lefties this season, Duran will take a seat with Roman Anthony starting in left field and Jahmai Jones starting at designated hitter and batting second.

Since the All-Star break, Gasper is hitting .327/.514/.865 with eight home runs, 12 runs scored, and 15 RBI. Despite being a switch-hitter, Gasper will get a day off against lefty Reid Detmers, with Nick Sogard playing first base and batting fifth and Andruw Monasterio starting at second base and batting seventh.

Orioles OF Christian Franklin (hand) and 1B Ryan Mountcastle (oblique) are both initiating hitting progressions.

Franklin has been sidelined with hand inflammation for just under two weeks, so he may not need a long ramp-up; however, Mountcastle has been out with a fractured foot since April 11th because he also suffered an oblique strain at the end of July. He will be on a far longer return-to-play timeline and may struggle to make it back by the end of the regular season.
