Smith, one of the three prospects the Tigers picked up from the Dodgers in the Tarik Skubal trade, exited in the second inning of his start for High-A West Michigan. The 21-year-old was making just his second start since arriving in the organization.

Yoshida blew a tire running out a double against the Pirates. He was able to walk off the field okay, but it still looked like an IL-type situation. The good news there is that the Red Sox might get Roman Anthony back in a week or so. Until then, either Nate Eaton or maybe Kristian Campbell could be called up to help fill in. Anthony Seigler replaced him in the DH spot tonight.

Wilson still has some swelling in the finger. Alika Williams is playing shortstop tonight.

Severino has been out since May 30 with a strained shoulder. He’s back throwing now, but he hasn’t advanced to the point to make a return in the next 6 1/2 weeks seem realistic. Perhaps things would be different if the A’s were a contender and had incentive to bring him back as a reliever.

Benge drew a walk in the first inning, then led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo homer off Tom Cosgrove. Benge would later draw his second walk of the game in the eighth. The 23-year-old outfielder has had a stellar rookie campaign, hitting .275/.338/.419 with 14 homers, 63 runs scored, 49 RBI, and 18 steals across 488 plate appearances.

Lindor drew a walk and scored a run in the first inning, then led off the eighth with a single and was caught stealing. He then came through for the Mets in the ninth, delivering the walk-off hit to score the winning run. The 32-year-old shortstop is hitting .244/.332/.442 with 12 homers, 38 runs scored, 32 RBI, and three steals across 292 plate appearances.

The Nats were limited to one run into the sixth inning before House broke through with a three-run homer off Sean Manaea to give the team the lead. The 23-year-old third baseman is up to nine homers and 31 RBI while slashing .242/.295/.408 across 241 plate appearances.

Manaea came out sharp in this one, tossing three scoreless innings before Andrés Chaparro took him deep for a solo homer to lead off the fourth. Things unraveled for Manaea in the sixth as he surrendered a three-run blast to Brady House. He returned to record one out in the seventh, leaving with a runner on third at 93 pitches with seven strikeouts. The 34-year-old left-hander will take a 4.22 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 113/37 K/BB ratio across 111 innings into a start against the White Sox in Chicago on Friday.

The Nationals were hoping to get at least four innings out of Lord on Saturday. They got four walks and were forced to go to the bullpen only two outs into the first inning. Lord gave up a base-loaded double to bring two runs in for New York, then loaded the bases again on his fourth walk. He then departed at 44 pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.04 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 57/25 K/BB ratio across 62 1/3 innings into a start against the Marlins in Miami on Friday.

Junis will return to his setup role in front of Jacob Latz after 15 days off for an adductor strain.
