George Springer remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Giants.

The Blue Jays continue to struggle offensively and they’re without Springer in the lineup for a sixth consecutive contest. The 36-year-old veteran was activated prior to Monday’s series opener, but remains stapled to Toronto’s bench. It’s a bit unclear why he’s not in the lineup at this juncture. Hopefully there is some clarity on his status at some point relatively soon. It’ll be rookie Sean Keys at DH on Tuesday night at Oracle Park.

Springer was scratched from Saturday’s lineup due to tightness in his left shoulder and they’ll give him an extra day to rest on Sunday as well. The expectation is that he’ll once again be available off the bench if needed and he’s still considered day-to-day. Jesus Sanchez will serve as the team’s designated hitter while Myles Straw starts in left field and will bat ninth against Phillies’ left-hander Jesus Luzardo.

Myles Straw replaced him, with Jesús Sánchez switching from left field to DH. Springer is likely day-to-day.

George Springer finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI as the Blue Jays bested the Cardinals 5-1 on Saturday.

Springer has hit in seven straight games, and he’s at .303 with four homers, 15 RBI and just eight strikeouts in 17 games since coming off the injured list last month. With the way he’s bounced back, he should net the Jays a significant prospect if, as a 10-and-five player, he’s willing to accept a trade.

George Springer hit a three-run homer and walked Tuesday in a losing cause against the Nationals.

Springer is 12-for-34 with two homers, eight RBI and just two strikeouts in his last nine games. He’s batting cleanup right now, but since he’s heating up, the Jays could go back to him in the leadoff spot soon.

George Springer went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer to power the Blue Jays to a 6-0 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.

Springer singled to lead off the second inning, then highlighted a five-run third inning for the Blue Jays with a three-run blast off Sonny Gray. The 36-year-old outfielder is up to 11 homers, 35 runs scored, 30 RBI, and seven steals while hitting .229/.312/.396 across 327 plate appearances. Springer, with an expiring contract, could be a target for a competing team at the deadline.

George Springer went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in Thursday’s 3-1 win over the Rays.

Springer lined a hot smash to the right of shortstop Ben Williamson to knock in Yohendrick Piñango and put the Blue Jays up 2-1. He’d later add a double, but was stranded on the basepaths. Springer is hitting .237/.286/.407 over this last 15 games with two homers and is probably on the cut line in mixed leagues at this point, but perhaps this will get him going.

Blue Jays optioned INF Sean Keys to Triple-A Buffalo.

Keys went 6-for-36 with one homer and a 13/1 K/BB in his 12 appearances with the Blue Jays. He remains a nice corner infield prospect, but odds are that he’s not going to get a real chance to help until next year.

Kazuma Okamoto is out of the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Rays.

Okamoto has been one of the few bright spots in a mostly nightmarish campaign for the Blue Jays. It’s his first off day since June 30. It’ll be rookie Sean Keys handling the hot corner in his place.

The fact that Rushing has progressed enough to be facing live pitching likely means that a rehab assignment is on the horizon for some point next week. The Dodgers have been patchworking their catching situation while Rushing and Will Smith have been sidelined.

Giants’ skipper Tony Vietllo told reporters on Friday that Adames had an MRI on his back on Thursday which revealed only a minor lower back strain. He’s considered day-to-day and still isn’t expected to require a trip to the injured list. Christian Koss will start in his place at shortstop and bat ninth for the Giants against Rockies’ left-hander Kyle Freeland on Friday evening in San Francisco.

Peoples has done a terrific job in his time with the Rangers this season, posting a 2.51 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and an 8/6 K/BB ratio over 14 1/3 innings in his 14 appearances. Unfortunately for him, he still has minor league options remaining, which often makes him the odd man out when they need to find a spot on the active roster. He should get another chance with the Rangers in relatively short order.
