Trout returns to Los Angeles’ lineup at DH and hitting second against the division-rival Rangers on Wednesday night following a three-week absence recovering from a right hamstring strain. The 34-year-old generational talent has delivered 17 homers and seven steals in 74 games this season. The most exciting development here is that Trout will be ready for next week’s Midsummer Classic in his hometown of Philadelphia. It’s his 12th career All-Star selection and first appearance in the actual contest itself since 2019.

Mike Trout went 1-for-2 with three walks and a solo home run against the Rangers on Monday.

Trout’s home run was his 20th of the season. He hit a solo shot off MacKenzie Gore in the first inning. Trout has two home runs in his last four games. Maybe he’ll continue to pop home runs down the stretch of the season, but with his average at .237 with 42 RBI and eight steals, it’s fair to question Trout’s fantasy profile at this point in his career.

Mike Trout went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts as the Angels fell to the Marlins 12-3 on Sunday.

Trout got off to a strong start, but March and April have been his best months by far. Things have only slipped further in August, with his strikeout rate well north of 40 percent in a small sample. Worse, the Angels’ lineup doesn’t surround him with much help, limiting his opportunities for counting stats. He has 19 homers this season but only 41 RBI. He stole five bases through April but has just three since. Trout is talented enough to go on a heater down the stretch, but serious environmental concerns cap his upside.

Mike Trout went 2-for-3 with a run scores in a loss to the Brewers on Saturday.

Trout also drew a walk, and he came around to score a run on a double by Jorge Soler. The future Hall of Famer is now hitting .245/.392/.456 on the season. It’d be wonderful if he played on a team that was even kind of relevant, but it’s nice to see Trout playing quality baseball even if it’s for a franchise that is going nowhere.

Mike Trout went 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored Sunday in the Angels’ 4-3 win over the Giants.

It was quite the unusual day for Trout, who didn’t have anything close to a hard-hit ball. His exit velocities on a liner, a grounder and two shallow flies were 82, 64, 78 and 73 mph, but that was good enough for his first four-hit game since Apr. 26, 2021, when he went 4-for-5 against the Rangers. He last went 4-for-4 on Aug. 15, 2019 against the White Sox. The performance raised his average from .237 to .247, which is the highest he’s been since mid-May.

In his first Midsummer Classic appearance since 2019, Mike Trout will lead off for the American League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.

The lineup: CF Trout, DH Yordan Alvarez, C Shea Langeliers, 3B Junior Caminero, SS Bobby Witt Jr., RF Cody Bellinger, 1B Ben Rice, LF Riley Greene and 2B Ernie Clement. Langeliers’ placement is odd, given that he’s hitting .186/.261/.362 since May 15, but then he did go 6-for-12 with three homers in his one series against the Blue Jays this year. That’s probably what manager John Schneider remembers.

Trout has gone 1-for-9 with a home run and three RBI in a pair of games since returning from the injured list earlier this week. He sat out Friday’s series opener in Minnesota. The 34-year-old generational talent will make an appearance in next week’s All-Star Game in his hometown of Philadelphia, which is a fun storyline heading into the Midsummer Classic. It’s his first appearance in the game itself since 2019.

Mike Trout is not in the Angels’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s tilt against the Twins.

Trout started each of the first two games since returning from the injured list on Wednesday, so the Angels will give him a breather on Friday night as they ease him back into a full-time workload. Expect him to start the remaining two games over the weekend. Josh Lowe will slide over and cover center field on Friday night while Wade Meckler starts in left field and will bat eighth against Twins’ right-hander Zebby Matthews.

Mike Trout (hamstring) was able to run the bases with no issue before Sunday’s game against the Red Sox.

Trout continues to make solid progress from the hamstring issue that has seen him miss a little over two weeks. The hope is that the 34-year-old future Hall of Famer will be back in action this week, with Trout mentioning Saturday that his hope is Tuesday or Wednesday. He was voted an All-Star starter, and it seems likely he’ll be participating in that event even with the injury.

Trout is currently on the injured list, but is expected to be activated prior to the event in Philadelphia; a city that fans know holds a special place in the 34-year-old’s heart. Aaron Judge was also voted a starter, but won’t be available due to his injury, with Byron Buxton the third outfielder. They’ll be joined by 3B Junior Caminero, SS Bobby Witt Jr., 2B Ernie Clement, 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., DH Yordan Alvarez and Shea Langeliers the starting catcher.

Trout went through his normal pregame routine prior to Friday’s showdown against the visiting Red Sox at Angel Stadium and appears on track to return next week without requiring a rehab assignment. The 34-year-old generational talent has been recovering from a hamstring strain that put him on the shelf back on June 18. It also looks increasingly likely that the New Jersey native will be ready for the upcoming Midsummer Classic in Philadelphia in mid-July. If so, it would mark his 12th career All-Star selection and first appearance since 2019.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy told reporters Roman Anthony (finger) is getting closer to starting a minor league rehab assignment.

Anthony isn’t quite ready yet, but he’s on the precipice of facing live pitching again, according to Tracy. He added that Anthony has progressed to hitting off a Trajekt machine, which is ostensibly his final step before a live batting practice session. The 22-year-old prodigy has been on the shelf working his way back from a partially torn tendon in his right ring finger since early May. It sounds like there’s a realistic possibility that he’s back in Boston at some point in September.
