Braden Montgomery nearly had a hit on a fly to left-center, but Ceddanne Rafaela ran it down and made a diving catch. Chapman threw just nine pitches, eight of them strikes. After a shaky June in which he was dealing with a hamstring issues, he’s 3-for-3 saving games this month.

Aroldis Chapman threw a perfect ninth against the Dodgers to earn his 27th save Saturday.

Chapman has a win and eight saves in nine appearances since the All-Star break. The appearance tonight was his third in four days, so he’ll probably be rested Sunday. Garrett Whitlock could close then, assuming that he’s fine. He hasn’t worked since Wednesday and didn’t pitch in a close game tonight, which was curious.

Aroldis Chapman picked up his 26th save with a scoreless ninth against the A’s on Thursday.

Chapman very nearly gave up a game-tying homer to light-hitting Alika Williams, but the 406-foot shot to center bounced off the wall for a double. It was farthest Williams had ever hit a ball in 321 major league plate appearances. Chapman went on to strand the runner by striking out both Colby Thomas and Nick Kurtz. It was Chapman’s second straight appearance and third in four days, so if the Red Sox have a save chance on Friday, it figures to go to Garrett Whitlock.

Aroldis Chapman earned his 25th save with a scoreless ninth Monday against the A’s.

Chapman allowed a single and had another batter reach on an error, but he fanned the other three guys he faced. With nine saves and one win in 10 appearances. he’ll be on the short list of AL relievers of the month for July.

Aroldis Chapman protected a two-run lead in the ninth for his 24th save Friday against the Blue Jays.

Chapman’s 391st career save moves his past Dennis Eckersley and into sole possession of ninth place on the all-time list. Next up is Billy Wagner at 422, so that’s obviously not happening this year. Chapman has a 1.87 ERA and is 24-for-26 in his save chances for Boston.

Aroldis Chapman worked a scoreless ninth with a three-run lead in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Orioles for his 390th career save.

Chapman gave up a single and a walk, but he got a double play and then another groundout to end it. He moved into a tie with Dennis Eckersley for ninth place all-time in saves. He’s 23-for-25 this year. With the Red Sox using Chapman, Garrett Whitlock and Justin Slaten to finish off the first game today, it’s possible Tyron Guerrero could get a save chance in game two.

Chapman walked Colton Cowser to start the inning and gave up a double to Gunnar Henderson with two outs. Cowser, though, didn’t try to score on the hit off, and Tyler O’Neill lined out to shortstop Tsung-Che Cheng to end the game afterwards. It was Chapman’s 22nd save of the year. He’s one away from tying Dennis Eckersley at 390 for ninth place on the all-time list.

Two walks and three stolen bases but no runs for Tampa Bay, as runners were left stranded on second and third to end the one-run game in the ninth. Chapman also pitched Friday, so he’s probably going to get Sunday off. Garrett Whitlock has also pitched back-to-back, so Justin Slaten or Tyron Guerrero might close then.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect ninth inning while striking out two, picking up his 20th save of the season on Friday against the Rays.

Chapman made quick work of the Rays on Friday, needing just 13 pitches to retire the side in order to hand the Red Sox their 11th win in a row. Friday’s save marks the second year in a row in which Chapman has recorded 20 or more saves, and now gives him 387 for his career. He’s now just four saves away from passing Dennis Eckersley on the all-time saves list.

Garrett Whitlock pitched a perfect 10th to protect a one-run lead and earn his second save Sunday against the Mets.

The Red Sox used Aroldis Chapman in a tie game in the ninth, and he got the win after the team scored in the top of the 10th. Whitlock then retired Jorge Polanco, Brett Baty and Bo Bichette in order. He has a 2.18 ERA and a 37/6 K/BB in 33 innings this season. Whitlock is likely one of the pitchers the Red Sox will consider moving if they opt to sell at the deadline, but a nine-game winning streak to end the first half has made it more likely that most everyone is going to stick around.

Chapman gave up a solo shot to Zach Neto while pitching with a three-run lead. He struck out two of the other three batters he faced. Chapman, who was picked for his ninth All-Star team on Saturday, has a 2.36 ERA and a 35/12 K/BB through 26 2/3 innings.
