Astros activated RHP Kei-Wei Teng from the 15-day injured list.

Teng misses the minimum time on the IL with his right knee sprain. The 27-year-old hurler was booted from the Astros’ rotation after struggling to a 7.77 ERA over 22 innings during the month of June. He’s expected to function in a long relief role this time around.
Trade deadline moves set to shake up AL East race
The AL East was one of baseball's busiest divisions leading up to Monday's trade deadline, leaving CC Sabathia to assess how the Rays and Yankees stack up following their respective moves.

Trey Yesavage left Tuesday’s start against the Astros with a trainer.

Yesavage appeared to injure his left knee on a warmup pitch prior to the third inning and was immediately lifted from the contest. The 23-year-old departed after firing a pair of scoreless frames. It would be a colossal loss for the Blue Jays, and fantasy managers as well, if he were to miss any time over the final two months. There should be an update on his status shortly.

Mets selected the contract of OF Cristian Pache from Triple-A Syracuse.

Pache was a big-time prospect with the Braves a couple years ago and wound up being one of the centerpieces of the Matt Olson trade with the Athletics. The 27-year-old is a phenomenal defender, but he simply hasn’t hit enough to be an everyday option at the highest level. He’s bounced around between a couple different clubs with the Mets being the latest to roll the dice on him as a zero-risk reclamation project.

Lavender gets his chance with New York after their teardown at the trade deadline earlier this week. The 26-year-old lefty has posted a respectable 3.77 ERA and 70/16 K/BB ratio across 43 innings in the minors this season.

Mets recalled LHP Jefry Yan from Triple-A Syracuse.

Yan receives his first opportunity in the majors in the wake of New York’s fire sale at the trade deadline. The 29-year-old, who is best known for his theatrics on the mound, signed a minor league deal with the Mets last August. He’ll be making his big-league debut when he gets into a game.

Mize was a last-minute addition at the trade deadline after posting a strong 2.70 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 85/19 K/BB ratio across 86 2/3 innings for the Tigers. He’s been battling some lingering groin issues throughout the year, but he’s ready to roll this week after heading out west.
