Jeremy Peña (hamstring) could play against Marlins

Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters they pretty much forced Bauers to take a day off since he’s been playing through shin splints in addition to several other physical issues. He figures to be back in the lineup at some point this week. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.

The Royals certainly could’ve used Caglianone’s formidable bat as they attempted to erase a five-run deficit in the 10th inning, ultimately falling one run short. The 23-year-old rising star was held out for the second straight game after being diagnosed with a Grade 1 flexor strain in his left elbow. It’s unclear whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list, but there should be some clarity on his status as the week progresses.

White hasn’t made an appearance for the Athletics since last Tuesday due to ongoing back issues. He’s out of the lineup for the sixth consecutive game. It doesn’t seem like he’s going to land on the injured list since the club has been willing to ride out the issue for nearly one week at this juncture.

As expected, Ohtani is back in the leadoff spot following a four-game absence due to ongoing physical issues. The two-way superstar has been dealing with multiple lingering injury concerns for several weeks, including left knee soreness and biceps discomfort. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters they’re putting a pin on Ohtani pitching for now. They haven’t officially ruled him out for the playoffs, but it seems highly unlikely they’re jeopardize his postseason availability as a hitter by pushing things from a pitching standpoint. The encouraging news here for fantasy managers is that Ohtani is back in the lineup without requiring a trip to the injured list.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters it might not be a one-and-done spot start for Sheehan, but he’ll presumably need to perform to keep his rotation spot until the playoffs begin. The 26-year-old gets the ball for Monday’s series opener against the Reds in Los Angeles after looking extremely sharp in a handful of recent outings at the Triple-A level where he’s allowed one run with a 16/4 K/BB ratio across 11 2/3 innings of work. It’s a bit of a challenging matchup given how Cincinnati is performing recently, but there’s some streaming appeal in deeper mixed leagues.

Miller draws the short straw from a roster construction standpoint with Los Angeles needing to free up a spot for Emmet Sheehan. The 27-year-old showed well in his return to the big leagues, allowing one run over three innings to pick up a win in relief against the Nationals on Sunday. He figures to return at some point before the regular season concludes.

Garcia’s return provides the Rangers with another quality high-leverage option behind stopper Jacob Latz. The 30-year-old southpaw has been out with shoulder inflammation since late April.

Peoples heads back to the minors to free up a roster spot for veteran reliever Robert Garcia. The 25-year-old rookie has posted a strong 2.76 ERA across 16 1/3 innings of low-leverage work this season.

Mayo’s first homer off Joey Cantillo was his 16th off a lefty. The second off Slade Cecconi was his fifth versus a righty and first since July 27. He’s sat three of the last six times the Orioles have faced righties, but today’s performance could help with that. Luis Robert Jr.'s absence is also probably a good thing for his fantasy value.

Rogers allowed six hits and walked none. He has an exceptional 69/6 K/BB in 61 innings since the All-Star break, though his 3.54 ERA doesn’t quite match up with his peripherals. He’ll take on the Blue Jays on Saturday or Sunday.
