Taylor Walls dealing with left finger injury

Neto’s home run was his 23rd of the season. With the Angels trailing 1-0, Neto hit a game-tying solo home run off Phillies reliever Jonathan Bowlan in the eighth inning. The Angels would go on to lose in extra innings. Neto is 18-for-47 (.382) with three home runs, nine runs scored, 12 RBI and two steals over his last 11 games. He’s hitting .236 with a .750 OPS and 65 RBI this year.

Johnson gave up two hits, walked five and struck out two. The walks remain a concern, though Johnson mostly pitched out of trouble for five innings Saturday. He has a 1.72 ERA with 16 walks and 15 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings in August. Johnson is lined up to face the Pirates on the road next weekend.

Sánchez gave up two hits, walked one and struck out eight. He was lights out against the Angels, but left with a 1-0 lead that the Phillies bullpen blew in the eighth inning, costing him a win. Sánchez lowered his ERA to 2.52. He’s lined up to face the Braves at home next weekend.

Eldridge had RBI singles in the first and eighth innings and a two-run single in the fifth inning. Eldridge has 16 RBI in 22 games in August. He’s hitting .261 with an .804 OPS and 42 RBI this year.

Bratt gave up three hits, walked two and struck out two. He fell to 1-3 with the loss. Bratt had a 4.54 ERA entering play Saturday and didn’t fare well in the spot start against the Giants on the road. He allowed three runs and failed to complete five innings. As the 27th man for Saturday’s doubleheader, he’ll head back to the minors following the game.

Marte gave up three hits, walked two and struck out three. He pitched well, but the Giants still removed him from the game after throwing 76 pitches with two outs and no one on base in the fifth inning. Marte isn’t scheduled for another start at the moment, though it’s clear the organization will be careful with how many pitches he throws the rest of the way after he already threw 107 2/3 innings in the minor leagues this year prior to his MLB debut.

Cowser’s home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jack Perkins in the fifth inning. Cowser is 15-for-44 (.341) with five home runs and eight RBI in his last 17 games. He’s hitting .228 with a .709 OPS and 36 RBI this year.

Kittredge allowed two hits in the ninth inning and the tying run moved into scoring position after a double steal. The 36-year-old right-hander promptly got Tommy White to ground out to end the game. It was his fourth save in August. Kittredge remains in the closer mix with fellow Orioles reliever Yennier Cano.

Perkins gave up four hits, walked four and struck out five. He fell to 3-10 with the loss. Perkins’ own throwing error on a pickoff attempt led to an Orioles run that was unearthed in the third inning. In the fifth inning, he allowed a solo home run to Colton Cowser. Perkins has a 6.42 ERA as a swingman for the Athletics this year. He’s lined up to face the Mariners on the road next week.

Baz gave up five hits, walked three and struck out four. He improved to 5-14 with the win. Baz had lost his last five starts entering play Saturday, but rebounded with a solid performance as he was one out away from recording a quality start. Baz has a 4.01 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Red Sox at home next week.
