Jakob Marsee is back in center field on Friday after getting a rare day off against a right-hander on Wednesday.

Even though he’s the Marlins’ best defensive center fielder, Marsee could be at some risk of getting demoted when Owen Caissie comes off the IL. He’s currently in a 1-for-18 slump and is hitting just .192/.313/.287 overall. He’s also turned into a non-factor on the basepaths of late, going just 1-for-2 in steals in his last 24 games. He had 18 steals in his first 74 games, which kept him semi-relevant in fantasy leagues in spite of his struggles.

Jakob Marsee is starting in center field and batting ninth on Monday against the Phillies.

At this point, you have to wonder how much longer Marsee can hold off Esteury Ruiz, and he could be in line for a trip to Triple-A when Owen Caissie (calf) is back from the injured list. Marsee is hitting .195/.315/.288 on the season with five home runs and 19 steals in 410 plate appearances. He does have an Outs Above Average of 5 in center field, which is likely saving his job right now, but his Defensive Runs Saved is -12, so not all metrics are convinced that he’s a good defender.

Jakob Marsee went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored on Thursday as the Marlins dispatched of the visiting Mariners.

Marsee smacked a one-out single off of Bryce Miller in the second inning and raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Liam Hicks. He also walked on the fourth inning and scored on a fielder’s choice. The 25-year-old outfielder then delivered an RBI single in the seventh that extended the Marlins’ lead to 7-2. With his two-hit attack, Marsee is now slashing .199/.320/.300 with five homers, 25 RBI and 18 stolen bases (in 28 attempts) over his 379 plate appearances.

Jakob Marsee delivered a game-winning single in the 10th inning on Tuesday, lifting the Marlins to a 6-5 walk-off win over the Mariners.

Marsee ended a bizarre back-and-forth affair at loanDepot park by depositing a fly ball deep to right field to send the red-hot Marlins to an extra-inning victory in walk-off fashion. The 25-year-old outfielder finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in the contest as Miami reached the 50-win threshold. They’ve gone 24-8 since the end of May to climb within three games of Atlanta for the NL East division lead.

Marsee returns without missing any additional time following an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Athletics with a right knee contusion. He’s back patrolling center field and hitting seventh during Tuesday’s series opener at loanDepot park.

Marsee has already undergone x-rays on the knee after he was hit by a pitch, and they returned negative. The 25-year-old is considered day-to-day, and he’ll have a chance to return to the Marlins’ lineup after an off-day against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Jakob Marsee swatted a solo home run, drew a walk and was hit by a pitch on Friday as the Marlins routed the Athletics in West Sacramento.

Marsee capped off a six-run uprising in the opening inning with his 381-foot (106.2-mph EV) solo shot off of Jack Perkins. He then drew a walk in the fifth inning and was plunked in the seventh before getting caught trying to steal second base. With his 1-for-3 night, the 25-year-old outfielder is now hitting .189/.311/.295 with five homers, 22 RBI and 18 stolen bases (in 28 attempts) on the season.

Jakob Marsee went hitless in three at-bats as the Marlins beat the Giants 2-1 on Sunday.

Marsee hit leadoff for the second straight game on Sunday as Liam Hicks landed on the injured list. He’s hitting just .205 with a .624 OPS this season, but he’s having his best month in June, even if his production is only a bit better than league average. Miami has trips to Coors Field and Sacramento in the next two weeks, so it would be a good time for Marsee to pick it up at the plate if he sticks at leadoff against righties.

Jakob Marsee went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as the Marlins fell to the Mets on Sunday afternoon.

Marsee finished May with better results than he showed in April, but he simply isn’t hitting for power like he did in the second half of last season. The former Padre has seen his barrel rate and expected stats crater, while both his strikeout and walk rates are up a few ticks. Marsee’s 14 thefts were tied for sixth in the majors entering Sunday, however.

Jakob Marsee went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk in Miami’s 10-5 win over the Rays on Saturday.

Marsee is coming around at the dish, collecting three hits in consecutive games. He knocked a base hit in the second inning, tripled in the fourth, then singled and scored in the ninth before drawing a walk in the tenth. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .204/.320/.317 with three homers, 25 runs scored, 14 RBI, and 13 steals across 198 plate appearances.

Marsee’s abysmal start to the year caused some fantasy managers to jump ship, but he’s shown some signs of life at the dish recently with a pair of homers and three steals in his last six games. The 24-year-old speedster has 13 thefts through 44 games and should finish among the National League’s leaders this year.

Padres’ manager Craig Stammen told reporters on Thursday that both Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Nick Pivetta (elbow) each threw two simulated innings on Wednesday.

The next steps for both veteran right-handers are still to be determined, but they’re inching closer to beginning minor league rehab assignments. Both should be expected to rejoin the Padres’ rotation at some point during the month of August.
