Peterson allowed seven hits and walked three, but the one run scored on a balk after Peterson tried a third pickoff of George Springer at first with runners on the corners. Peterson has given up a total of six runs — five earned — in five starts since being lit up for 10 runs by the Cardinals on July 3. He’ll likely face the Nationals next Wednesday or Thursday.

Kirk struggled for a while after returning from his fractured thumb, but he’s hitting .312 with a 10/12 K/BB in 89 plate appearances since the beginning of July. He’s 10-for-25 with a homer in his last seven games.
