Reds send Ke’Bryan Hayes to 10-day IL

Jobe gave up four hits, walked two and struck out seven. He bounced back after allowing five runs in his last start, a loss to the Twins. Jobe was sharper and his seven strikeouts were the most he’s had in a start since returning from injury and tied his career-high that was set last year. He has a 4.45 ERA. Jobe is lined up to face the Rockies at home next weekend.

Smith entered a tied game in the ninth inning and struck out two in a perfect inning. With the game still tied and the automatic runner on second base in the 10th inning, he struck out the side in order, setting up the Guardians for the walk-off win in the bottom of the inning. Smith’s win was his fifth of the year. He has a 2.25 ERA.

Albernaz termed the hamstring injury that put Robert on the IL as a low grade strain. The Orioles called it hamstring discomfort in making the move prior to Sunday’s game.

Williams gave up four hits, walked three and struck out 11. He has now struck out at least 11 batters in three of his last four starts. Williams will enter play Monday as MLB’s strikeout leader. He has a 3.78 ERA. Williams is lined up to face the Twins on the road next weekend.

Davis’ home run was his ninth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Walbert Ureña in the third inning, which was the only run scored in the Pirates’ 1-0 victory. Davis’ home run was his first since July 12 against the Brewers, a span of 26 games. He’s hitting .169 with a .570 OPS and 35 RBI.

Tolle hardly seems to care that he’s now 40+ innings over his previous high. His velocity was up about one mph from his season averages today, and he reached double figures in strikeouts for the third time this year. He was actually hit really hard when the Orioles made contact against him; all but one of the nine balls in play he gave up was hard hit and the overall average was 100.3 mph. Still, it resulted in only four hits allowed. Tolle is 9-6 with a 3.15 ERA. He’d have a Rookie of the Year case most seasons, but he’s still behind at least Kevin McGonigle and Parker Messick in the AL this year. He’ll likely face the Royals next weekend.

Chapman, the ninth pitcher in major league history with 400 saves, reached back and found 101 on his final pitch, striking out Christian Encarnacion-Strand. He saved three of Boston’s four wins in Baltimore. He’ll probably be down Monday after this, which could lead to a save chance for Garrett Whitlock.

The runs came in the second on a walk, a Gunnar Henderson error and then a homer from Eli White. Bradish allowed just one other hit, but he walked four in all. With the Orioles losing six straight and close to being out of contention, it’s possible Bradish will be shut down for the last week or two of the season. He’s at 152 innings this year after coming in at 39 and 54 the previous two seasons, which were interrupted by Tommy John surgery. As things stand now, he’s slated to face the Blue Jays next weekend.

White’s homer off Kyle Bradish was his first in 25 games for Boston after being acquired from Atlanta and second off a right-hander this season. He’s started the last four games in center with Ceddanne Rafaela hurt, and it figures that the Red Sox will keep using him there; none of their other options at this point make it worth sliding Jarren Duran over.

Cowser had his OPS over .700 for a couple of days late last month, but he’s back down to .674 now. He’s 1-for-21 with a 10/1 K/BB in his last seven games. Unfortunately, nothing at all has gone right for the Orioles since his incredible, game-saving home run robbery Monday against the Rockies.
