Rockies recalled OF Jordan Beck from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Beck returns to Colorado for the first time since hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain back in mid-May. The 25-year-old was hitting just .183/.227/.305 with one homer, 10 RBI and two steals in 88 plate appearances over 30 games prior to the injury. The talent is undeniable, but he hasn’t been a fantasy-relevant option this season.
Rays take 2-0 lead on the back of Yankees miscues
The Dan Le Batard show breaks down the Tampa Rays taking a 2-0 series lead in the ALDS over the New York Yankees by taking advantage of the Yankees' errors and playing sound baseball.

Miguel Rojas was removed from Game 3 of the NLDS against the Braves with lower back pain.

It doesn’t sound like a massive concern, but back issues can be a complicated matter, especially without additional downtime and significant travel during the postseason. Rojas was lifted during the eighth inning of Game 3 in Atlanta after going 0-for-3 at the dish. He’s presumably day-to-day for the remainder of the series.

Wandy Peralta has been added to the Padres’ roster for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Peralta takes over Mason Miller’s vacated roster spot while the elite closer is away from the club on paternity leave. The 35-year-old lefty compiled a respectable 3.61 ERA across 77 1/3 innings of work during the regular season.

Padres placed RHP Mason Miller on the paternity list.

It’s a seismic development shortly before San Diego’s must-win Game 3 matchup against the Brewers at Petco Park. Miller will be unavailable for at least Game 3 of the best-of-five series, but could potentially make it back for Game 4 on Wednesday night. The 28-year-old elite closer served up a walk-off hit to Jackson Chourio while attempting to complete a six-out save and was saddled with the loss in Game 2 over the weekend. Miller was unlikely to be available for more than one inning during Game 3 regardless, but his absence puts even more pressure on starter Nick Pivetta and the rest of the Padres bullpen.

Miguel Rojas made an early exit from Game 3 of the NLDS against the Braves on Tuesday.

Rojas appeared to be in some considerable discomfort after fouling off a pitch during an eighth-inning at-bat. He was 0-for-3 prior to exiting. The 37-year-old veteran has been an indispensable role player for the Dodgers in the postseason for the last couple years. There should be an update on his status following the contest.

Gavin Sheets was scratched from the lineup for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Samad Taylor takes over at DH and will hit eighth in his place. Sheets has gone 1-for-2 with a two-run homer in a pair of games this postseason. The Padres are attempting to keep their season alive during Game 3 at Petco Park on Tuesday evening.

Reds OF TJ Friedl elected free agency.

Friedl may be the most prominent minor-league free agent on the open market this offseason after passing through waivers unclaimed last month. The 31-year-old hit just .172/.255/.255 with four homers and five steals across 272 plate appearances for Cincinnati this past season, a steep decline from the 18-homer, 27-steal campaign he put together back in 2023. He should still be able to latch on somewhere as a quality fourth outfielder, with a chance to compete for a more significant role in spring training.

Jackson Chourio is hitting leadoff for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Padres on Tuesday.

Chourio, who delivered a game-winning single against San Diego superstar closer Mason Miller in Game 2, and the Brewers have a chance to eliminate the Padres on their home field and punch their ticket to the NLCS for the second consecutive season. Here’s the full lineup: Chourio (LF), Jake Bauers (1B), William Contreras (C), Brice Turang (2B), Christian Yelich (DH), Garrett Mitchell (CF), Cooper Pratt (SS), Sal Frelick (RF) and Joey Ortiz (3B).

Padres manager Craig Stammen told reporters he isn’t naming a starter for a potential NLDS Game 4 matchup against the Brewers.

It’ll be an all-hands situation for San Diego as they attempt to avoid elimination at the hands of the Brewers in Game 3 on Tuesday evening. King would presumably start Game 4 if he doesn’t wind up pitching in a must-win situation.

Jackson Merrill is in center field and hitting second against the Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS on Tuesday.

Merrill is hitting second for the first time since late July as San Diego attempts to stave off elimination and begin climbing out of an 0-2 deficit as the best-of-five series shifts to Petco Park. It’ll be Ethan Salas handling the catching duties for the third time in five postseason contests with Gavin Sheets getting the nod at DH. Here’s the full lineup: Fernando Tatis Jr. (RF), Merrill (CF), Manny Machado (3B), Ty France (1B), Salas (C), Sheets (DH), Xander Bogaerts (SS), Dustin Harris (LF) and Jake Cronenworth (2B).

Daniel Espino will start Game 3 of the ALDS against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Espino gets the ball as Cleveland’s opener ahead of lefty Foster Griffin. The hard-throwing 25-year-old rookie posted a pedestrian 4.11 ERA across 15 1/3 regular-season innings. He was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball roughly a half-decade ago before shoulder issues derailed his career. He’ll be tasked with helping the Guardians stave off elimination at the hands of their upstart division rivals.
