The Rockies and Mickey Moniak are in agreement on a two-year, $16.5 million contract extension, according to MLB.com’s Thomas Harding.

Moniak missed time at the start of the year with a finger injury, but has still delivered top-50 range fantasy value among outfielder this season, hitting .273/.317/.547 with 17 homers, 47 RBI and one steal in 278 plate appearances across 74 games. The 28-year-old has emerged as a middle-of-the-order run-producer for Colorado and makes a ton of sense as a stabilizing presence as they continue searching for their next foundational pieces. The new agreement will buy out his final arbitration-eligible season in addition to one year of free agency.

Moniak got the Rockies going in this one with a double in his first plate appearance and came home to score a few batters later. Moniak has had a great season so far with 17 home runs, a .278 batting average, and an .881 OPS through 72 games. There’s a chance that production could take a hit though with his name coming up in trade rumors and the chance that he’ll no longer play half of his games in Coors Field.

Mickey Moniak went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI against the Padres on Tuesday.

Moniak took Michael King deep for a two-run homer in the third inning to highlight a four-run frame for Colorado. He later drove in a third run on a double in the seventh for his second extra-base hit of the game. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .279/.323/.567 with 17 homers and 46 RBI across 260 plate appearances.

Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Nationals on Tuesday.

Moniak singled in the second inning to put the Rockies on the board before scoring on a double. The hit was just his tenth against a left-handed pitcher this season. He then took Miles Mikolas deep for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth to give the Rockies the lead. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .280/.325/.569 with 16 homers, 34 runs scored, and 42 RBI across 243 plate appearances.

Mickey Moniak is in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Giants.

That’s noteworthy, as it’s the second time in four games this week that Moniak has suited up against a southpaw, though he has hit near the bottom of the lineup in both of those games. Still, fantasy managers have to be thrilled to see him starting to see the field against left-handers to go along with the outstanding production that he has provided against right-handers this season.

Hunter Goodman was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Dodgers with a wrist injury.

Goodman said he jammed his wrist during Monday’s game on a play at the plate. He’ll undergo further evaluation and possibly imaging to determine the severity of the issue. The 26-year-old All-Star backstop was in Colorado’s initial lineup at DH but has since been replaced by Mickey Moniak. He’s had a phenomenal first half, launching 27 home runs in 85 games. There should be some additional clarity on his status at some point this week.

Mickey Moniak went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three runs scored Thursday against the Marlins.

Moniak went 2-for-19 in his first seven games back from the IL, but he’s now homered in three straight games to erase the damage that stretch did to his OPS. He’s at .280/.330/.621 with 15 homers in 197 plate appearances.

Mickey Moniak went 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, double, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 6-3 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

Moniak set the tone in this one with a solo shot off Marlins’ starter Max Meyer in the first inning. He then doubled and tripled in his next two at-bats and had an opportunity in the seventh needing just a single to complete the cycle. He couldn’t pull it off, but this was his first great game since coming off the injured list 11 days ago. Coming into the night, he’d gone 3-for-23 since returning with only one extra-base hit. Here’s to hoping this will get him back on track.

Mickey Moniak went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk against the Marlins on Tuesday.

Moniak put the Rockies on the board with a solo home run off Eury Pérez in the first inning. He later drew a walk in the sixth. The home run snapped a three-game hitless streak for the 28-year-old outfielder. He’s up to 13 on the season with 32 RBI while hitting .260/.314/.561 across 188 plate appearances.

Rockies activated OF Mickey Moniak from the 10-day injured list.

Moniak returns to Colorado’s lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox at high-octane Coors Field following a one-month absence due to ankle tendinitis. The 28-year-old slugger has been a bit of a revelation for fantasy purposes this season, slashing a robust .280/.335/.607 with 12 homers, 28 RBI and one steal in 164 plate appearances over 43 games. He’s worthy of a roster spot, even in shallow fantasy formats, in any leagues where he may have been dropped.

Rockies sent OF Mickey Moniak (ankle) on a rehab assignment to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer said last week that Moniak could be back “within a couple weeks,” and this is certainly a good sign on that front. Moniak was slugging .607 before hitting the injured list and could be an interesting name if he was dropped in your league given how banged up outfield currently is across the big leagues.

The Cubs didn’t add a veteran closer before the deadline, so it looks like Palancia will have a chance to get his job back upon returning. He’ll definitely need at least a couple of rehab appearances first.

Pfaadt’s strong groundball rate has taken a hit in his last two starts, but it hasn’t kept him from pitching 13 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out three tonight. He has a 1.78 ERA in his last five starts despite striking out just 13 in 30 1/3 innings, but that strikeout rate is scarier now that he’s no longer racking up the grounders. Even with all of his recent success, he’s not a great play with the Dodgers next on the schedule.

Brandyn Garcia pitched a perfect ninth with a four-run lead against the Padres on Monday.

Garcia was robbed of what could have been his third save in five days when the D-backs scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 5-1 game. He pitched the ninth anyway and turned in a third straight hitless frame. He seems like the favorite for saves in Arizona right now, though because he’s a lefty, he might be needed earlier in games at times.

Michael King surrendered three runs in five innings Monday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

Tim Tawa’s homer in the fourth, which was set up by a walk and a single, did all of the damage. King dropped to 6-8 with a 3.45 ERA. The run support really hasn’t been there for him, but this is the first time he’s lost in four games in which the Padres have scored only one run. He had twice won 1-0 and once taken a no-decision after allowing one run in six innings. He’ll face the Astros next.

Tawa was back at first base tonight after starting in center field the previous two days. He’ll probably play less outfield with Lars Nootbaar around, but he might just start at first base regularly anyway. While we’re not really buying in, he has hit .266 with four homers and 16 RBI in 23 games since he was recalled July 5.

Junior Caminero launched his 31st and 32nd homers to help power the Rays past the Rockies 13-9 on Monday.

All five of his balls in play tonight were hit at least 98 mph, with the homers checking in at 112 and 109 mph. Caminero is moving into some very rare territory now with 84 homers through his age-22 season. He moved past Al Kaline tonight and is now tied with Mickey Mantle for 15th place on that list. Next up are Jimmie Foxx at 86 and Johnny Bench and Ken Griffey Jr. at 87. He’s not going to approach Mel Ott’s record of 115, but he ought to finish up in the top 10.

Unfortunately, as a result of the Freddy Peralta acquisition, he might go back to being a true reliever once Shane McClanahan returns. First, he should be in line for at least one more start Sunday against the Mariners.
