The well-traveled 30-year-old signed a minor league deal with the Mariners last month after going 3-for-19 at the dish during a 14-game stint with the Guardians earlier this season. He’ll occupy a bench role.

No surprise as Kwan will be spared from having to face Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. That honor goes to Stuart Fairchild instead. The 28-year-old has put together an abysmal season overall, but he went 2-for-4 with an RBI during Friday’s series opener and is hitting .281 (9-for-32) in nine games since returning from bereavement leave earlier this month.

He finished with only three at-bats, as the platoon option was pinch-hit for by Chase DeLauter late in the loss. No fantasy value here, just thought we’d give Fairchild his due as the rest of the Guardians mustered only one hit combined against Carlos Rodón.
