Craig Albernaz has been rolling with a multi-pronged closer-by-committee approach that includes Rico Garcia, Andrew Kittredge, Yennier Cano and Josh Walker for the past couple weeks. They also have former stopper Félix Bautista on the verge of returning from the injured list. Helsley, who has been out with elbow discomfort since early July, figures to step into the closer role once he’s activated.

Bieber was a key cog in Toronto’s unexpected drive to the World Series last year and is attempting to make it back for another postseason run. The 31-year-old has been on the shelf with teres major inflammation that cropped up in late August. He’s expected to throw a bullpen session at some point in the near future. Given where he is from a throwing progression standpoint where he still needs to face hitters in live batting practice before getting into a simulated game, it might be unrealistic to expect him back unless the Blue Jays go on an extended playoff run again.

Yesavage is working his way back from last month’s left knee meniscus surgery with the goal of helping Toronto’s potential postseason run. It seems unrealistic that he’ll return before the conclusion of the regular season, especially with only two weeks left on the calendar, but there’s optimism he’ll be ready to take the ball in October. There’s a slight possibility he’ll make it back for the final weekend of the year, but that’s hardly a reason for fantasy managers to stash him. He’s expected to make a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo in the coming days.

Harris’s triple to right in the third would have been a homer in 29 ballparks, but it just missed in Oracle. He’s 11-for-31 with three RBI and a couple of steals since the Padres called him up last month. Since he’s currently starting against righties, he could be of use in shallow leagues next week with the Padres playing four games at Coors Field.

It’s another subpar line for Ray, but it would have been a nice outing if former teammate Rafael Devers hadn’t hit a perfectly good curveball out to right for a grand slam in the fifth. Fortunately, Ray had a 7-1 lead at the time, and the bullpen finished the job after his departure. Ray will likely face the Rockies in Coors on Wednesday.

Miller had an usually difficult ninth, walking two and giving up a bunt single, but he struck out Bryce Eldridge to end the potential rally. He’s second in the NL in saves, one behind Riley O’Brien.

Molina had a nice start to his Giants career, going 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in two starts and one relief appearance, but he allowed nine hits and walked two while facing 20 hitters tonight. He’s due to make his next start Wednesday against the Cardinals.
