Jacob deGrom (triceps) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker told reporters deGrom could potentially start against the Nationals on Thursday. It’s an extremely encouraging development after the 38-year-old veteran left his previous start against the Angels after two innings with triceps fatigue.

Trent Grisham drove in all of the Yankees’ runs with a homer and a single in a 3-1 win over the Orioles on Tuesday.

Grisham homered off Shane Baz in the third and then put the Yankees ahead again with his two-run single in the seventh. He’s hit five homers in his last eight games, and he’s batting .281/.305/.684 in 15 games this month.

Carlos Rodón allowed one run over four innings Tuesday against the Orioles in his return from the injured list.

The lone run came on Coby Mayo’s homer in the third. In the second, Rodón, returning from elbow inflammation, allowed two to reach with one out before getting a likely double play ball, only for Jazz Chisholm Jr. to record no outs on the play. Rodón, though, bounced back to strike out Carlos Narváez and Jackson Holliday, with the final pitch to Holliday barely catching the corner high and outside to get overturned for a strike. Rodón threw 68 pitches tonight, which is about what was expected coming in. He should get up to 80 or so Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Luis Lara went 3-for-6 with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI to lead the Brewers to a 22-0 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.

Lara was hitless in his first three at-bats until he led off the seventh with a single and scored on a base hit by David Hamilton. He then homered off infielder Leo Rivas as Seattle put a position player on the mound in the blowout loss. Still, it counts as Lara’s first career home run all the same. Lara later drove in another run on a base hit in the same inning. The 21-year-old outfielder is hitting .242/.327/.363 with 13 runs scored, 15 RBI, and two steals across 104 plate appearances.

David Bednar pitched a perfect ninth for his 28th save Tuesday against the Orioles.

Bednar needed just eight pitches to get two strikeouts and a groundout. It’d be three appearances in four days if he worked again Wednesday after this, but since this was such a quick outing, the Yankees will probably allow it.

Shane Baz fanned 10 but took a loss after allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Yankees.

Baz allowed one run through six before giving up singles to two of the three batters he faced in the seventh. Josh Walker took over then and allowed both inherited runners to score to get Baz tagged with his 13th loss to the year. That’s the most losses for an Orioles pitcher since Jorge López and Matt Harvey both lost 14 games in 2021. The good news is that Baz’s velocity was back tonight after a surprising dip last time out that he said was a result of mechanical issues. Apart from that start, he’s mostly pitched well of late, and his next outing will come against a familiar Rays lineup that he’s turned in two of his better performances again this year (1-0, 1.38 ERA in 13 IP).

Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 0-for-4 and botched a double play ball Tuesday against the Orioles.

No one is giving Jazz a five-year contract this winter, right? Chisholm was screened by the second base umpire on the double play ball, making it somewhat understandable that he failed to haul it in. However, he compounded the issue by expressing his displeasure instead of picking up the ball, which was only a couple of feet away from him, and perhaps still getting an out at first. After the 0-for, Chisholm is batting .214/.292/.384 on the season. He has 142 strikeouts and 87 hits.

Christian Yelich went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Yelich broke the game open in the fifth inning with a three-run blast off Bryce Miller to give the Brewers a commanding lead on their way to a blowout win. He later singled, scored, and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth as the Brewers hit around the order. The 34-year-old outfielder is hitting .228/.308/.374 with nine homers, 51 runs scored, 44 RBI, and 10 steals across 381 plate appearances.

Miller gave up an unearned run on an error in the first inning. He settled in for three scoreless innings before getting torched for five runs in the fifth, including a three-run blast by Christian Yelich.
