Alec Bohm (hamstring) sits against Cardinals

Rodón struck out two while allowing two free passes. This was his second start since late June as he makes his way back from elbow inflammation. After throwing 66 pitches earlier this week, the veteran southpaw built up to 76 on Sunday. Rodón’s health became a bit more important for the Yankees after Ryan Weathers suffered an arm injury this weekend. He’s scheduled to pitch at home against the Red Sox in his next outing.

Soriano struck out seven but posted his worst ratios since joining the Blue Jays. In his fourth start with his new team, constant traffic was an issue despite New York missing Aaron Judge and struggling lately. It might take a full offseason with the organization for any arsenal changes or mechanical plans to take shape. Soriano will draw the Mariners at home next time out.

Chisholm now has 18 homers to go along with 34 stolen bases this season. It’s helpful in fantasy, especially because his dual eligibility includes second base, one of the tougher positions to fill. However, his .220 batting average has actively hurt roto managers, and the remaining counting stats aren’t anything to get too excited about. Chisholm profiles as a potential 30/30 threat heading into 2027, but his long-term fantasy value is tied heavily to stolen bases, barring a big bounce-back season at the plate.

Jones delivered an RBI double in the second and was also caught stealing for the first time as a big-leaguer. He has seven homers and eight steals in his first 57 games with the Yankees. Of course, it has come with a 36 K%. Heliot Ramos was the odd man out with Cody Bellinger back in the lineup, but playing time will be something to watch as New York gets healthier down the stretch.

Grisham connected for a solo homer in the bottom of the eighth, extending New York’s lead to five. While he won’t match last year’s career-high 34 homers, his 18 so far are his second-highest season total. He also has nine stolen bases after swiping just three in 2025. Grisham has remained the Yankees’ exclusive leadoff hitter against right-handed pitching while playing against most, but not all, lefties.

No further word yet on his status. Adames, who has also been dealing with back issues, singled and scored against the Red Sox before departing in the fifth inning. If he’s forced to the IL, the Giants could give the recently acquired Shay Whitcomb a look at third base, with Christian Koss moving to short.

Leahy and four Cardinals relievers had the team in line for a victory before closer Riley O’Brien imploded, allowing six runs in the ninth. The notable takeaway is that Leahy was pulled at 63 pitches, and St. Louis has made it clear his workload will be managed down the stretch. He’s up to 126 1/3 innings this season after throwing 88 in 2025, the vast majority out of the bullpen. St. Louis’ rotation recently suffered injuries to Hunter Dobbins and Andre Pallante, so it remains to be seen how the Cardinals handle Leahy going forward. His next start lines up at home against the Pirates.

Junk struck out two in the outing. It’s a strong outcome against the highest-scoring offense in MLB, but Washington was without James Wood and CJ Abrams, plus Curtis Mead and Luis García Jr. Junk’s streaming upside is limited with so few strikeouts and so little length. He has a rematch with the Nationals in his next start, this time on the road.

Kent struck out five and walked three while throwing 90 pitches. The 2024 fourth-round draft pick has now made three big-league starts with 14 strikeouts, 11 walks, and an 8.03 ERA. Neither his pitch-modeling results nor his ERA estimators suggest better days are ahead. He’s set for a rematch with the Marlins in his next appearance.

Hernández drove in Agustín Ramírez with his first-inning double. He was later robbed of another extra-base hit as Nationals outfielder Jacob Young climbed the wall to take it away. Hernández has shown some power upside this season while hitting lefties more reliably than righties. He’s been batting inside the top three of the order whenever Miami faces a southpaw. The Marlins could see up to four left-handers this week with matchups against the Red Sox and Nationals.
