Kwan started the game with a 357-footer to right that was a homer in 15 ballparks and probably a double in the rest. It was just his third homer of the year, but he’s been very productive the last couple of months, hitting .356/.438/.411 with 38 runs scored in 51 games since the break. He scored a total of 37 runs in 89 games during the first half.

Bibee struck out seven and generated 16 whiffs on his way to improving to 6-15 on the season. He looks like a nice play in mixed leagues with a home start against the A’s on deck for next weekend.

Ryan gave up a pair of homers and struck out just one in his second start back from the injured list. He also lost the previous one, and he’s now 6-10 with a 3.84 ERA overall. One wonders if he might be looking at a shutdown with the Twins all but out of the playoff hunt. He’s lined up to face the Angels next weekend.

The homer was his 12th through 112 games, and the steal was his 19th. Bazzana has been hitting well of late, but he had been stuck on 18 steals since Aug. 21, going 0-for-1 in his previous 16 games.

Adell’s homer off Joe Ryan was absolutely crushed, leaving his bat at 116.8 mph and traveling a projected 451 feet. It’s the second hardest he’s ever hit a ball, trailing a 117.2-mph homer off Drew Smyly in 2023, and it’s the third hardest-hit home run of the year, coming in behind only a pair of blasts from Oneil Cruz.

Jenkins is just 4-for-41 as a major leaguer. He did make good contact the one time he put a ball into play today, hitting a ball 100.4 mph to center, but it was still an easy play for Steven Kwan. Now that Byron Buxton has been ruled out, Jenkins figures to finish out the season as the Twins’ center fielder. However, in light of his struggles, he probably will do some sitting against left-handers.

Rojas has been dealing with a labrum tear for years. He said he’ll get treatment and expects to resume playing soon. In the meantime, Kiké Hernández could be in line for additional infield time.

Suárez’s homer off Antonio Senzatela gave the Reds a 3-2 lead in the sixth. The Brewers briefly tied the game with a Jake Bauers homer in the seventh, only for the Reds to go back ahead on a Tyler Stephenson sac fly in the eighth. Suárez has homered in back-to-back games and now has 24 homers on the season. He’s hit .256 with five homers and 11 RBI in 12 games since it was reported on Aug. 27 that he passed through waivers unclaimed.

Burns was wild today, walking three and throwing just 28 of his 56 pitches for strikes. Of course, because of the Reds’ plan to restrict his workload, he was going to be done after three innings regardless. Brandon Williamson again piggybacked off him and picked up a win after allowing one run in four innings. The Reds are expected to use the same arrangement again Friday against the Cubs.

Working with a one-run lead, Pagán gave up a leadoff single to Brice Turang, but he had no further issues afterwards. He’s now 16-for-16 saving games since the All-Star break. He’s also 3-0 during the span.
