Luis Arraez (lower body) held out of lineup Sunday

Pasquantino’s home run was his 14th of the season. He started the day on the bench, but entered the game in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run. Pasquantino has five home runs and 13 RBI in 17 games in September. He’s hitting .244 with a .736 OPS and 54 RBI this year.

Crow-Armstrong, bouncing back after going 0-for-10 in the first two games of the series, is now tied with Kyle Schwarber for the major league lead with 45 homers. He’s first with 118 runs scored and third with 107 RBI. The steal today was his 38th, and there’s little doubt he’ll get the two he needs for 40 during the Cubs’ final six games.

Peterson struck out seven and walked one. He’s come up big for the Cubs, going 5-1 with a 2.95 ERA in 12 starts since the All-Star break. He’ll finish up the regular season against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Lowder has lost all four of his starts this month, leaving him 6-12 with a 6.01 ERA. He has a 7.34 ERA since the break. He’ll probably get to face the Blue Jays next weekend, but the Reds can’t possibly pencil him into their 2027 rotation at this point.

Bleday has 23 homers and an adequate .215/.325/.415 line through 524 plate appearances. It’ll be interesting to see if that’s enough to get him another year in Cincinnati. He should be rather affordable in arbitration ($4 million?), but his ceiling seems low, and it’d be nice if the Reds could do better, especially if they’re going to start Héctor Rodríguez as one of their outfield corners.

Cruz’ home run was his 20th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Michael Wacha in the fourth inning. Cruz has three home runs and seven RBI over his last 10 games. He’s hitting .280 with an .857 OPS and 67 RBI this year.

Montgomery continues to be automatic in the ninth inning for the Pirates. He picked up another save Sunday, his 16th of the year. Montgomery extended his scoreless innings streak to 23 2/3 innings, dating back to July 26. He has a 2.59 ERA this year.

Wacha gave up four hits, walked four and struck out five. He’s walked four batters in two of his last three starts. Wacha has been solid all year with a 3.33 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Guardians at home next Saturday.

Tong struck out five but walked four and threw just 61 percent of his pitches for strikes. He did post an 11 percent swinging strike rate, and all of his four-seamer, cutter, and curve showed the ability to miss bats. However, Tong fell behind in the count far too often due to four-seam command. He’s set up for another start next week against the Nationals, but his command issues will make him a risky fantasy option.

Story’s home run was his fifth of the season. He hit a solo shot off Rays reliever Ty Johnson in the ninth inning. Story missed most of the season due to injury, but has two home runs in his last four games. He’s hitting .247 with a .646 OPS and 29 RBI this year.
