Luis Arraez leaves game with ankle injury Thursday

Mack broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh inning when he took Braves pitcher Grant Holmes deep for a 440-foot solo homer. It was the 14th homer of the season for Mack, who has now homered twice in September while slashing .241/.262/.362.

Pérez was masterful in this one. He allowed his first base runner in the fourth inning on a one-out walk to Matt Olson, but took a no-hitter into the top of the sixth inning. Sean Murphy would end any hopes of a no-no with a leadoff single to start the sixth frame, but Pérez would force a ground-ball double play in the following at-bat before getting Ronald Acuña Jr. to hit into a ground ball of his own to end the inning. Pérez would need 15 pitches to make the final three outs, as the righty closes out the game and his 2026 season in style. Pérez ends the year with an 8-11 record and a 3.91 ERA.

Kerr was solid over three innings of work, allowing just two hits and a walk while keeping the Marlins off the board. He was relieved by Grant Holmes at the start of the fourth inning and will likely revert back to the bullpen for the Braves’ final two games of the season.

Peralta’s Tampa Bay resurgence concluded nicely, at least for the regular season, with another strong outing here. The first five innings were a breeze with five scattered base runners, but he ran into trouble during his third time around the Phillies’ order in the sixth with consecutive base hits to start the frame. At that point, he was pulled and reliever Cam Booser escaped the jam without letting either inherited runner score. Peralta’s fastball continues to gain velocity and it averaged a shade over 96 mph in this start, nearly two ticks above his season average. That pitch also had an extra inch of induced vertical break and he’s entering the postseason without allowing more than one earned run in six straight starts.

Ho-hum, Baker earned another easy save here against what’s been a lifeless Phillies lineup of late. It was his 30th consecutive converted save opportunity with his last misstep coming all the way back in mid-May. He will enter the playoffs as one of the league’s most trusted relievers and was one of the fantasy baseball MVPs this season.

In classic Rays fashion, they beat a Phillies team fighting for their playoff lives with just two runs and one total extra base hit. Fortes was responsible for it though with his sixth home run of the season as he and his teammates prepare for the postseason.

Watching their playoff hopes potentially slip away from them, the Phillies decided to bring in Duran while down 2-0 in the eighth inning. He pitched a clean and easy scoreless frame, but it was a clear indication that their backs are up against the wall.

The Phillies have spent weeks searching for a big hit and Stott failed to deliver it in this game. After reaching in each of his first two plate appearances, Stott came up with runners on first and second with one out in the sixth as the Phillies trailed 2-0. He wound up hitting a liner right to second base and that score held through the final. The Phillies’ magic number remains at two as things get even tighter between them and the Padres.

Sánchez did his part as the Phillies continued to watch their Wild Card spot potentially slip away from them with seven innings of two-run ball. He got off to a bit of a rocky start though as the Rays put up a run in each of the first two innings and smacked six hard-hit balls along the way. Yet, Sánchez did what aces do and tightened up from that point forward. His season ended with a 2.91 ERA, 231 strikeouts, and 45 walks over 207 innings pitched.. He’s certain to get Cy Young votes after another phenomenal year and Phillies fans are hoping they’ll get to see him on the mound again next week.

Taylor will get another chance to show what he can do in the Mariners’ bullpen with Andrés Muñoz (knee) being placed on the injured list on Friday. Taylor, 25, has yet to make an appearance with the Mariners this season after posting a 5.05 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 65/37 K/BB ratio across 57 innings at the Triple-A level.
