Ozzie Albies knocks in go-ahead run in Braves’ win

Ozzie Albies went 2-for-3 with a go-ahead single in the bottom of the eighth as the Braves bested the Dodgers 4-3 on Tuesday.

Albies also had a sac fly, because of course he did. Tonight’s was his 13th of the season, overtaking Henry Aaron and Del Crandall for the Braves’ single-season record (oddly enough, both of them did it in 1960). Vinnie Pasquantino in 2023 is the only other player to have 13 sac flies in a season this decade. Francisco Lindor, with 15 in 2016, was the last to have more than that. According to Baseball Reference, the record since sac flies were first tracked in 1954 is 19 by Gil Hodges in 1954.

Ozzie Albies hit a solo homer in a win over the Mets on Tuesday.

Albies broke a scoreless affair with a solo homer off an otherwise excellent Nolan McLean to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead. It also gives Albies 20 homers on the season, and he’s driven in 64 over Atlanta’s 120 games. A very solid — if unspectacular — season for Albies.

Ozzie Albies is not in the Braves’ starting lineup for Thursday evening’s tilt against the Marlins.

There haven’t been any indications that Albies is dealing with any sort of injury, so it looks to be just a breather for the 29-year-old infielder. Mauricio Dubon will cover second base in his absence and will bat fifth against Marlins’ righty Janson Junk.

Ozzie Albies hit a solo homer to help the Braves to a win Tuesday over the Marlins.

Albies smashed a solo homer in the third inning off Ryan Gusto, the only run Atlanta picked up off Gusto before he exited the game. Albies now has 19 homers on the season, and the RBI ups his total to 63.

Ozzie Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Orioles on Saturday.

Albies’ home run was his 17th of the season. He hit a game-tying solo home run in the eighth inning off Rico Garcia. The home run gave the Braves life momentarily before the Orioles had a walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth inning. Albies has hit two home runs in his last three games. He’s hitting .264 with a .755 OPS and 57 RBI.

Ozzie Albies went 0-for-5 and struck out three times Tuesday against the Padres.

Albies isn’t exactly struggling this month, but he has fanned 21 times in just 17 games, which is incredibly unusual. In fact, it’s the most times he’s struck out in a month since Sept. 2021. He struck out just nine times in 23 games in June. Of course, Albies really hasn’t been hot at any point since April; he’s batting .234/.289/.381 since May 1.

Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Padres on Monday.

Albies’ home run was his 15th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Wandy Peralta in the sixth inning. Albies was just 2-for-13 with a run scored and two RBI in the last three games entering play Monday. He’s hitting .266 with a .755 OPS and 54 RBI.

Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two RBI, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Cardinals.

The Braves only mustered three hits and two runs off Cardinals’ starter Michael McGreevy, and Albies was responsible for both runs and two of the three hits. He’s had a tremendous bounce back season thus far with 13 home runs and a .769 OPS as we approach the All-Star Break.

Ozzie Albies went 3-for-4 with two homers, three runs scored, and three RBI to lead the Braves to a 4-3 win over the Brewers on Saturday.

The Braves had been held without a hit through four innings until Albies took Kyle Harrison deep for a solo homer to lead off the fifth. He added a base hit and scored a run in the seventh, then came through in a big spot in the ninth. With a runner on and trailing by one run, he slugged a two-run homer off Aaron Ashby to walk it off for Atlanta. The 29-year-old second baseman is hitting .284/.335/.453 with 12 homers, 50 runs scored, and 40 RBI across 322 plate appearances.

Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Albies broke this game wide open with his three-run home run in the seventh inning after it sat still at 4-2 from the third inning on. That was his 10th home run of the season – only six shy of his mark from last year – to go along with a .283 batting average and .791 OPS in what’s been a resurgent season for the second baseman.

Ozzie Albies had a strong day at the dish in Thursday’s lopsided victory over the Red Sox, going 3-for-5 with a homer, double, two runs scored and two RBI.

Albies smacked a double off of Payton Tolle in the fourth inning and came around to score on a two-out RBI single off the bat of Dominic Smith. He then capped off the scoring in the ballgame with a 416-foot (104.4 mph EV) two-run blast off of Ryan Watson in the ninth inning. With the three-hit attack, Albies is now slashing a solid .276/.333/.439 to go along with nine homers and 29 RBI on the season.

Tyler O’Neill (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Cardinals.

It’s a bit surprising that O’Neill hasn’t hit the injured list already, but there doesn’t seem to be a ton of urgency from the Orioles to make a decision here. The 31-year-old has been diagnosed with a rotator cuff strain in his right shoulder and appears likely to miss at least a couple weeks.

Endy Rodríguez underwent season-ending left hip surgery on Wednesday.

Rodríguez underwent a procedure to address a labrum tear and won’t be cleared to resume baseball activities until at least March, which means he’s going to miss time at the outset of next season. The 26-year-old was showing some really encouraging signs at the plate before hitting the injured list earlier this month. His absence opens the door for Rafael Flores to continue playing regularly between catcher and first base into next season.

Mets interim manager Andy Green told reporters Juan Soto (calf) is continuing a hitting and running progression.

Green added that Soto, who has expressed confidence that he’ll play again this season, remains without a definitive return timetable. He’s been on the injured list with a Grade 2 left calf strain since late July. All signs point to Soto being ready to return to New York’s lineup at some point in September, but he’s going to need a rehab assignment before that happens.
