Alexander missed six weeks while dealing with a fractured hand. He’s in the lineup Friday against the A’s, and should see playing time against left-handed pitching — with some starts versus righties — for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old infielder will get a breather in this one with left-hander Jake Bennett toeing the slab for the Red Sox. Blaze Alexander will start in his place at second base and will bat leadoff for the O’s on Thursday evening in Baltimore.

Samuel Basallo (hand) is back in the lineup at DH for Monday’s series opener against the Rockies.

Basallo’s return comes at a fortuitous time for fantasy managers with Baltimore kicking off a three-game series at high-octane Coors Field. He’s back in the lineup after missing Sunday’s game with a hand contusion. The 22-year-old backstop’s presence at DH pushes Christian Encarnacion-Strand to the bench with Blaze Alexander getting the nod at third base. Things are only going to get more crowded with Luis Robert Jr. coming over from the Mets off waivers in the next few days.

Jackson Holliday is not in the Orioles’ starting lineup for Sunday’s skirmish against the Athletics.

Holliday will take a seat with left-hander Jeffrey Springs toeing the slab for the A’s. He has also been struggling at the dish recently, hitting just .170/.182/.208 with zero homers, two RBI and a 10/1 K/BB ratio over 55 plate appearances in his last 12 games. Blaze Alexander will start in his place at second base and bat leadoff for the O’s on Sunday afternoon in West Sacramento.

Blaze Alexander went 1-for-5 against the Athletics in his return to the lineup on Friday.

Alexander was back in Baltimore’s lineup after missing six weeks with a fractured hand. There’s plenty of competition for at-bats with the Orioles, but he figures to play regularly between several defensive spots against left-handed starters for the final month of the season.

Gunnar Henderson is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Athletics.

Henderson will get a break against southpaw Jacob Lopez to open the three-game series against the A’s. Blaze Alexander will get the start in Henderson’s absence, and hit leadoff in the process.

Blaze Alexander will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Alexander, out since mid-July with a fractured hand, figures to rejoin the Orioles next weekend. He was playing regularly between second and third when he got hurt, but he might be in line for more outfield time now with Coby Mayo and Christian Encarnacion-Strand having stepped up.

Matt Weyrich from the Baltimore Sun reported that Blaze Alexander (hand) is projected to begin a rehab assignment within a week.

Alexander suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left-hand in mid-July and is yet to appear in game action since then. He progressed to fielding drills last week and is now reportedly healthy enough for a rehab assignment. That puts him on track to return to the Orioles within the next few weeks.

Blaze Alexander (hand) was doing pre-game fielding drills on Wednesday.

Alexander has been on the injured list since July 16th, when he suffered a fractured left hand after being hit by a pitch. The fielding drills obviously involved him fielding balls with his glove hand, which is his left hand, and even though they weren’t hit hard off the bat, it’s a nice step in the right direction. There is still no stated timeline for his return.

Orioles placed INF/OF Blaze Alexander on the 10-day injured list with a left hand fracture.

Alexander suffered the injury during Sunday’s game against the Royals as he was drilled by an inside pitch. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for, other than manager Craig Albernaz saying he’s “going to miss some time”. Christian Encarnacion-Strand was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to take his spot on the Orioles’ active roster.

Blaze Alexander was diagnosed with a non-displaced fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch during Sunday’s game versus the Royals.

Alexander is “going to miss some time” according to manager Craig Albernaz The 27-year-old has been a quality contributor for the Orioles since the start of June, but now will assuredly be placed on the injured list prior to Friday’s game, and Baltimore will have to turn to Norfolk for a replacement.

Willi Castro is on the bench for the Rockies for a third straight game Friday.

Castro had started all but three games since the All-Star break until Tuesday. Now he’s absent for three in a row. It’s not a bad idea for the Rockies to go to their younger players, but it is surprising to see Castro completely erased from the mix like this. He’s hitting .259/.331/.496 with eight homers in the second half.
