The Rays needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for the arrival of Ty Johnson on Saturday and unfortunately Dunn drew the short straw this time. There’s a decent chance he slides through waivers unclaimed and continues to function as extra infield depth for the Rays.

Dunn was acquired from the White Sox on May 20th. He went 1-for-11 in nine games for the Rays, mostly serving as a defensive replacement. He’ll provide organizational depth in the minor leagues.

Taylor Walls was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday’s contest against the Orioles with left hamstring tightness.

It sounds like a precautionary move with the club saying Walls is day-to-day for now. It’ll be newly acquired Oliver Dunn taking over at shortstop and hitting ninth on Tuesday night at Camden Yards.

Rays selected the contract of INF Oliver Dunn to the major league roster.

Dunn was acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox late last night, and will be immediately added to the active roster with Ben Williamson headed to the injured list. It remains to be seen how the Rays will handle playing time at second base with Williamson sideline.

Dunn fortifies Tampa Bay’s organizational infield depth at Triple-A Durham with Carson Williams up in the majors while Ben Williamson deals with a back injury. The 28-year-old was in White Sox camp as a non-roster invitee earlier this spring after hitting .167 (6-for-36) in 14 games for the Brewers last year.

White Sox reassigned LHP Hagen Smith, INFs Oliver Dunn, William Bergolla Jr., RHP Tyson Miller and OFs Dustin Harris and Dru Baker to minor league camp.

Smith is the notable inclusion here after an impressive Cactus League outings against the division-rival Royals over the weekend where he struck out five over two scoreless innings. The 22-year-old southpaw projects as an impactful fantasy contributor once he reaches the majors based on his stratospheric strikeouts rates throughout his career.

Oliver Dunn went 3-for-4 with a homer, a triple and three runs scored as the White Sox topped the Rockies 12-3 on Monday.

Dunn’s 109-mph triple was the hardest-hit ball of the game, while his 107-mph, 419-foot homer was No. 3 on the list. Dunn is 6-for-20 with two homers through 10 games this spring. It’s hard to imagine him making the White Sox, just because he’s on a minor league deal and so many of the alternatives are out of options, but he’s outpacing the field right now.

Oliver Dunn went 1-for-4 and walloped a three-run homer on Friday as the White Sox shut out the Diamondbacks in Cactus League action.

Dunn did his damage off of Landon Sims in the second inning, crushing a 429-foot (107.7 mph EV) three-run shot that gave the White Sox an early 3-0 edge. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the day. The 28-year-old outfielder is facing an uphill battle at earning a spot on the White Sox’ Opening Day roster, but this was at least a step in the right direction for him.

Dunn bolsters Chicago’s infield depth and will compete for a reserve role during spring training. The 28-year-old infielder batted .167 (6-for-36) in 14 games for the Brewers this past season. He’s merely organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Dunn predictably went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment over the weekend. The 27-year-old infielder batted .167 (6-for-36) in 14 games this season at the highest level.

Brewers designated INF Oliver Dunn for assignment.

Dunn has been removed from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster to make room for lefty Robert Gasser to be activated from the 60-day injured list in a procedural move. The 27-year-old infielder was shipped to the minors back in early April after hitting .167 (6-for-36) in 14 games to open the season. There isn’t really a spot for him anymore in Milwaukee with rookies Caleb Durbin and Anthony Siegler occupying bench roles in addition to versatile Andruw Monasterio rotating between several spots.
