Jackson Jobe fans eight in victory over Pirates

Jobe struck out nine, but he managed to allow runs in three separate innings despite giving up just four hits and one walk on the afternoon. He gave up a run in the first on a walk, a steal and then a soft flyball single that left fielder Brett Callahan got a bad jump on. The run in the fifth was a product of a HBP, a single, a walk and a sac fly, and he surrendered a solo homer to Miguel Vargas in the sixth. Jobe is 2-3 with a 3.98 ERA. He’ll face the Pirates next weekend.

The 24-year-old righty scattered just three hits and one walk in the impressive outing. The only blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Adael Amador in the top half of the first inning. After that, he was in complete command. Jobe generated 16 swings and misses on 87 pitches on the day, posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. He’ll look to replicate this effort when he brings a 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 34/13 K/BB ratio (34 2/3 innings) into Friday’s matchup against the White Sox in Chicago.

Jobe gave up four hits, walked two and struck out seven. He bounced back after allowing five runs in his last start, a loss to the Twins. Jobe was sharper and his seven strikeouts were the most he’s had in a start since returning from injury and tied his career-high that was set last year. He has a 4.45 ERA. Jobe is lined up to face the Rockies at home next weekend.

Jobe was victimized by two home runs, allowing a solo shot to Kody Clemens in the fourth inning and a three-run shot to Ryan Jeffers in the fifth inning. Jobe has only allowed four home runs in 23 1/3 innings, but more concerning is his 4.63 ERA and 19 strikeouts. He’s lined up to face the Guardians on the road on Saturday.

Jobe finished up with three strikeouts and three walks, giving him an 11/5 K/BB in 14 innings since he came off the IL. His first start back was more exciting and encouraging that the last two, and he seems like a fringe mixed-league option in a lone start at home against the Rays next week.

He’ll try to put this rough outing behind him as he brings a 6.23 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and an 8/2 K/BB ratio into Wednesday’s battle against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Jobe gave up one hit, walked one and struck out four. You couldn’t have asked for a better outing in his first start since May of last year after recovering from Tommy John surgery. Jobe had never touched 100 mph before in the major leagues, but reached that mark on his first inning strikeout of Bryce Eldridge. In the second inning, he struck out Rafael Devers on three pitches, the last of which being a wipeout changeup. Jobe threw 71 pitches and will continue to be on a pitch count for at least his next few starts. That might hinder his ability to work deep into games right now, but Jobe certainly showed enough to be worth grabbing in mixed leagues. He’s lined up to face the White Sox next weekend.

While he won’t make his highly anticipated 2026 debut until Saturday, Jobe rejoins the Tigers’ active roster on Friday evening. If the Tigers are going to make a serious push for a playoff berth in the American League, Jobe is going to have to play a major role in making up for the departures of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize. Brenan Hanifee was optioned to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

Jobe will draw into Detroit’s new-look rotation following the departures of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize at the trade deadline when they kick off a three-game series in San Francisco later this week. The hard-throwing 24-year-old was one of the top pitching prospects in baseball in the not-so-distant past and will be making his return to the majors after missing most of the last two seasons recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s struck out 17 batters over 15 1/3 innings during five minor league rehab outings. There are probably going to be some workload restrictions down the home stretch, but Jobe is the type of talent that fantasy managers should at the very least be monitoring closely.
