Trey Yesavage goes two innings in loss to Reds

Yesavage threw just 40 pitches (26 strikes) in his abbreviated return to Toronto’s rotation roughly six weeks after undergoing left knee meniscus surgery. The lone tally against him came on an opposite-field homer by Pete Alonso. He finished with three strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. There’s very little incentive for the Blue Jays to push him from a workload standpoint, regardless of the playoff implications at stake, when he takes the ball against the Reds this weekend to close out the regular season. Yesavage will make his return from knee surgery in a start against the Orioles tonight. The Jays are hoping for three innings out of him and then will probably turn the ball over to Spencer Miles.

His command was a major issue before his injury, so it’s hard to trust him in fantasy leagues for the remainder of 2026.

He allowed two hits and also issued a walk before being lifted for pitch count reasons. He presumably got the rest of his work done out in the bullpen afterwards. The 23-year-old is attempting to make it back in time for Toronto’s postseason run, assuming they make it there, after undergoing knee surgery last month.
