Nook Logan hit his second career homer and tripled Sunday against the Rockies.
Both hits came off lefties. The switch-hitting Logan has been far more productive against southpaws in his career, which is another reason why he should be platooning with Ryan Church in center field instead of playing regularly. The hits gave him his first three RBI in his 10 games for the Nats.

Chase DeLauter is starting in right field and batting fifth against the Royals on Wednesday.
Even with tough left-hander Cole Ragans on the mound, the Guardians will have DeLauter back in the lineup after one day off. He will hit fifth instead of second, but it’s nice to see that he is not in a strict platoon. It does seem like Kyle Manzardo and Bo Baylor are in strict platoons, as both of them will sit yet again with Austin Hedges catching and Rhys Hoskins at first base.
Better late than never: Walker off to great start
Eric Samulski analyzes Jordan Walker's hot start to the season, explaining what the 23-year-old is doing better and sharing why he "certainly has the power to hit 30 home runs if he continues to start for the Cardinals."
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #11
Marcelo Mayer is not in the lineup for the Red Sox on Wednesday.
With the Red Sox facing a left-handed pitcher, Mayer will head to the bench with Isiah Kiner-Falefa at second base. Trevor Story will also be at DH, so Andruw Monasterio will start at shortstop against his former team, the Brewers. Mayer is 1-for-2 with a home run off of left-handed pitchers this season, so it might be worth the Red Sox actually letting him see if he can handle lefties at the big league level.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #78
Red Sox recalled LHP Tyler Samaniego from Triple-A Worcester.
Samaniego was part of the return the Red Sox got from the Pirates for outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia this offseason. The 27-year-old left-hander has allowed two earned runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings at Triple-A with three strikeouts and two walks. If he gets into a game for the Red Sox, it will be his MLB debut.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #63
Red Sox placed RHP Justin Slaten on the 15-Day Injured List with a right oblique strain.
We found out yesterday that Slaten was dealing with the injury, and it appears to be one that will cost him a few weeks. The 28-year-old has thrown 3 1/3 scoreless innings so far this season with five strikeouts and two walks. His presence in the late innings will be missed for Boston.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher
White Sox recalled LHP Tyler Schweitzer from Triple-A Charlotte.
Schweitzer is the White Sox’s 23rd-ranked prospect and has been working as a multi-inning reliever in the minor leagues. He has a low-90s fastball with a changeup that operates as his best pitch. He will take Shane Smith’s spot on the active roster but will likely operate in long relief as the White Sox decide who will take Smith’s rotation spot.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #64
White Sox optioned RHP Shane Smith to Triple-A Charlotte.
Pretty shocking to option your Opening Day starter after three starts, but Smith has allowed 12 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits in 8 1/3 innings this year with an 11/9 K/BB ratio. You have to assume this is a short-term move with the idea of the White Sox working out a mechanical flaw in a lower-stakes environment. Regardless, Smith should not be on fantasy rosters.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #40
Hunter Dobbins (knee) allowed one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings for Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Dobbins also struck out seven and walked one while throwing 62 of his 91 pitches for strikes. The 26-year-old, who was acquired from the Red Sox in the offseason, is still working his way back from a torn ACL that ended his season last year. He has looked good to start the year, allowing four runs on eight hits in 10 1/3 innings while posting a 10/3 K/BB ratio. A couple more good starts and he could push for a call-up to join the Cardinals’ rotation.
  • STL Catcher #8
Cardinals C prospect Jimmy Crooks went 1-for-4 with a walk and a three-run home run for Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Crooks now has four home runs and nine RBI on the season while slashing .375/.516/.917 with a 7/6 K/BB ratio and a 59 percent hard-hit rate. Meanwhile, Pedro Pages is hitting .182/.280/.318 and has minor league options remaining. No move is imminent, but if the performance disparity remains this stark by the end of the month, it could become more likely.
  • BOS Shortstop
Red Sox INF prospect Mikey Romero went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI for Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday.
Romero now has a nine-game hitting streak going to begin the Triple-A season and is slashing .342/.395/.553 with one home run, nine RBI, and a 5/2 K/BB ratio. It’s a tremendous start for the 2022 first-round pick, who also has a 62 percent hard-hit rate to begin the year. Last year, Romero played second base, shortstop, and third base, so he could be an interesting option in Boston if any of their infielders gets hurt or struggles for an extended period of time.
  • ATL Catcher #12
Braves manager Walt Weiss said Sean Murphy (hip) will begin a rehab assignment on Friday.
Weiss referred to this as “spring training” for Murphy, so don’t expect it to be a short rehab assignment. The goal is to get him “a couple dozen at-bats,” which could mean double-digit games, and he also will not play in back-to-back games from the start. That means it could be late May before we see Murphy back with the Braves. That will cut into Drake Baldwin’s playing time a little bit, but Murphy should be the clear backup at this point.
