    Cubs non-tendered catcher Jose Reyes.

Someone’s going to run with the “Jose Reyes non-tendered” headline. This Reyes was only brought up in September because the Cubs had lost Michael Barrett. He’s not in the team’s plans, though he could be re-signed.

Brice Matthews left Sunday’s game against the Rangers with a left knee injury.

Matthews hurt the knee when he hit the wall while attempting to make a catch early in the contest. The 24-year-old will likely undergo testing, and the Astros will have the All-Star break to determine whether Matthews needs a trip to the injured list.

Henry Davis went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, powering the Pirates to a lopsided 14-5 victory over the visiting Brewers.

Davis helped to break the game open with a 364-foot (95.6-mph EV) two-run shot off of Robert Gasser in the second inning that went just over the outstretched glove of Jackson Chourio to increase the Pirates’ lead to 4-0. He also delivered an RBI single during the Bucs’ 10-run uprising in the fourth inning and scored as Bryan Reynolds was plunked with the bases loaded. With his two-hit attack, the 26-year-old backstop is now slashing .166/.267/.344 with eight homers and 27 RBI on the season.

Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI on Sunday as the Pirates walloped the Brewers at PNC Park.

Ozuna smacked an RBI single off of Robert Gasser in the second inning that increased the Pirates’ lead to 2-0 before riding home on a two-run blast by Henry Davis. Ozuna then did some yard work of his own with a 338-foot (103.6-mph EV) solo shot off of Gasser to open the fourth inning. He has been a major disappointment overall for the Pirates this season, slashing just .205/.288/.305 with eight homers and 28 RBI.

Paul Skenes cruised to his eighth victory of the season on Sunday, limiting the Brewers to two runs on three hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

The star right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while allowing only one base on balls. The Pirates provided him with 14 early runs of support, so all Skenes had to do was keep the train on the tracks in this one. The only damage against him came on an RBI double by Jackson Chourio and a fielder’s choice by Gary Sanchez in the fourth inning. Skenes got nine whiffs on 82 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He finishes the first half of the season with an 8-8 record, 3.57 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 130/24 K/BB ratio across 108 1/3 innings in his first 20 starts.

Brice Turang went 1-for-3 and slugged a two-run homer on Sunday as the Brewers fell to the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Turang did his damage off of Antwone Kelly in the seventh inning, crushing a 3-2 slider for a 387-foot (100.5-mph EV) two-run blast that pulled the Brewers to within 10 runs at 10-4. He also drew a walk in the contest. Turang has had an excellent all-around first half, slashing .266/.361/.465 with 14 homers, 60 RBI and 15 stolen bases.

Robert Gasser was hit hard in Sunday’s loss to the Pirates, giving up seven runs on eight hits in his three-plus innings of work.

Gasser struck out three batters in the abbreviated outing and didn’t walk a batter. The Pirates got to him for four runs in the second inning — including a two-run blast from Henry Davis. He then allowed the first three hitters to reach in the fourth, including a solo homer from Marcell Ozuna, before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Gasser generated seven whiffs on 58 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He finishes the first half with a disappointing 5.24 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 43/14 K/BB ratio over 46 1/3 innings in his nine starts for the Brewers.

George Springer is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Sunday’s first half finale against the Padres.

Springer missed six straight games over the past week and a half for unspecified reasons before returning to action on Wednesday. This appears to be just a routine day off. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will function as the team’s designated hitter on Sunday while Sean Keys draws a start at first base and will bat seventh against Padres’ right-hander German Marquez.

Nathan Flewelling launched a two-run homer on Sunday, leading the American League to a decisive 6-1 win over the National League in the MLB All-Star Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Flewelling was named Futures Game MVP following the contest. The 19-year-old backstop wasn’t in the junior circuit’s starting lineup, but he delivered the biggest hit of the contest when he crushed a two-run shot to right field in the sixth inning to give them a commanding 4-1 advantage. He’s blossomed into one of the more intriguing catching prospects in baseball this season with a breakout campaign at High-A Bowling Green, slashing .261/.394/.496 with 16 homers and six steals in 335 plate appearances over 73 games. He’s a name fantasy managers need to know in long-term keeper and dynasty formats.

Jesús Made went 1-for-3 with an RBI on Sunday in the All-Star Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Made lifted an opposite-field single into shallow right field off Mariners southpaw Kade Anderson with two outs in the opening frame. He stepped to the plate with runners on the corners in the third inning but wound up grounding out harmlessly, although he did push the tying run across the plate with the 106.9-mph worm burner. The 19-year-old switch-hitting shortstop has continued his meteoric rise towards Milwaukee this season, slashing .276/.347/.442 with nine homers and 26 steals in 346 plate appearances over 76 games as one of the youngest players in Double-A.
