  • MIN Catcher #46

Rays manager Joe Maddon said new acquisition Chris Gimenez is “absolutely in the mix, no question,” for playing time at catcher.
Bengie Molina already has some playing time locked up, and Gimenez will compete with Jose Lobaton and Robinson Chirinos for time behind the veteran. It’s possible Gimenez could have an edge based on the fact that he can also play first base and the outfield. No matter who wins the spot behind Molina, the Rays catcher spot looks to be a fantasy wasteland this year.

Guardians recalled RHP Franco Aleman from Triple-A Columbus.
Aleman had yet to allow an earned run and had struck out 18 in 12 innings as a reliever at Columbus. The 2021 10th-round pick out of Florida will be making his major league debut.
Cubs would be 'in shambles' without Imanaga
James Schiano discusses Shota Imanaga's performance against the Cincinnati Reds and how the pitcher has shaken off a rough end to the 2025 season.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #75
Guardians designated RHP Connor Brogdon for assignment.
With his velocity down a bit from last year, Brogdon had given up five homers in 15 1/3 innings, leaving him with a 5.28 ERA. Still, since he’s making only $900,000 on his deal with the Guardians, someone might pick him up off waivers.
  • HOU Relief Pitcher #64
Astros selected the contract of RHP Logan VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land.
He takes the spot of Jason Alexander, who was sent down Thursday. VanWey made nine appearances for the Astros last season, amassing a 5.06 ERA in 10 2/3 innings. He’d opened this year with a 5.74 ERA in 15 relief appearances with Sugar Land.
  • FA Left Fielder #38
Astros sent OF Dustin Harris outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Harris declined the assignment and is now a free agent. He’s hit .233/.333/.302 in 52 plate appearances with the White Sox and Astros this season.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #25
Phillies sent INF/OF Dylan Moore outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
One imagines he’ll become a free agent. Moore got just 12 at-bats for the Phillies and went hitless before being DFA’d on Saturday.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #59
Rays activated RHP Mason Englert from the 15-day injured list.
Englert is returning from an 18-day absence without having gone on a rehab assignment. He’s expected to pitch tonight in relief of Jesse Scholtens, and he’ll likely continue to build up as a starter.
  • TB Starting Pitcher
Rays optioned RHP Chase Solesky to Triple-A Durham.
The 28-year-old Solesky didn’t get into a game in his three days with the Rays, so he’s still yet to make his major league debut.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #51
The Cubs and Mets have discussed a Freddy Peralta trade, according to WSCR-AM’s Bruce Levine.
The Mets aren’t bailing on the season just yet, but if things don’t get better in the coming weeks, Peralta, a free agent to be, would become one of the top names on the trade market. The Mets gave up Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat to acquire Peralta and Tobias Myers from the Brewers in January. Peralta has opened the season 2-3 with a 3.12 ERA through eight starts.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #74
Reds optioned RHP Jose Franco to Triple-A Louisville
The Reds needed a spot on the active roster for Nick Lodolo, so Franco was the odd man out. The 25-year-old has allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 15 hits in 14 2/3 innings out of the bullpen this season. He will likely get another chance this summer.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #40
Reds activated LHP Nick Lodolo (blister) from the 15-day injured list.
Lodolo is set to make his season debut on Friday. He had a blister issue crop up at the end of spring training and then had it reappear on April 2nd during his first rehab build-up. Blisters have been a recurring issue for Lodolo in the past, and his command in his last Triple-A rehab appearance was not great, so we’d rather stash him on our bench for this first start than make him active, but he deserves to be rostered in most league types.
