Chase DeLauter is starting as the designated hitter and batting second on Friday against the Cubs.

DeLauter gave Guardians fans and fantasy managers a scare when he had to leave the game on Tuesday after fouling a ball off his foot. He missed one game but is now back in the lineup.

The Pirates needed a spot on the 40-man roster to call up top prospect Konnor Griffin, so Valdez was let go. He will likely clear waivers and has the opportunity to remain in the Pirates organization.

Pirates selected the contract of Konnor Griffin from Triple-A Indianapolis.

This move was reported yesterday, but is now official. Griffin, the top prospect in baseball, will bat seventh and play shortstop in his major league debut in the Pirates’ home opener on Friday against the Orioles. He is worth adding in any fantasy leagues where he is still on the waiver wire

Carlos Rodón

NYY Starting Pitcher #55

Carlos Rodón will throw off a mound on Saturday and then, hopefully, begin a rehab assignment.

Rodón is on the injured list while recovering from off-season surgery to remove bone spurs from his elbow. He felt some tightness in his hamstring recently, which has delayed his throwing progression, but if all goes well in his bullpen session on Saturday, then he could begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week.

Rays recalled RHP Hunter Bigge from Triple- Durham.

Bigge is the final piece remaining in Tampa Bay from the Isaac Paredes trade from a few years ago. He will get a shot to hold down a job in the bullpen with Garrett Cleavinger (hamstring) headed to the IL.

It doesn’t seem to be a long-term concern for the left-hander, but he will be out for at least the next two weeks. With Griffin Jax struggling, this could increase the chances that Bryan Baker gets the next save opportunity for Tampa Bay.

Sam Antonacci

CWS 2nd Baseman

Sam Antonacci went 1-for-4 with a stolen base for Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

The 23-year-old is off to a strong start, going 8-for-24 (.333) with two home runs, four RBI, and four steals in six games. He also has an impressive six walks to just two strikeouts. With Brooks Baldwin (elbow) on the injured list, the White Sox have a hole in the outfield, and Antonacci has played five games in left field to begin this season. He could be an intruiging name in deeper fantasy formats if he gets a call-up.

Travis Bazzana

CLE 2nd Baseman #87

Guardians 2B prospect Travis Bazzana went 2-for-6 with a game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth for Triple-A Columbus on Thursday.

The 23-year-old is only 5-for-24 in his first six games of the season, but he has five walks, a .720 OPS, and had three hard-hit balls in this game. With Konnor Griffin now being called up to the big leagues, Bazzana could be the next big-name prospect knocking on the door if he can start converting these hard-hit balls into more hits.
