The Reds are throwing a left-hander, but Lowe has started against the first three left-handers the Pirates have faced. That being said, he’s also 0-for-9 with two strikeouts, so maybe giving him a few days off against left-handed pitching isn’t the worst idea. Nick Gonzales will shift over to second base with Nick Yorke playing third and batting sixth.

Oneil Cruz

PIT Center Fielder #15

Oneil Cruz is starting in center field and batting fifth against the Reds on Wednesday.

It’s hard to bench a player when he goes 3-for-3 with two home runs, but considering yesterday was against a left-handed starter too, it makes sense for the Pirates to continue to put Cruz in the lineup against all pitchers until he starts to cool down. If the 27-year-old can go back to being just serviceable against left-handed pitching, he could be in for a big season.
