Angels designated OF Gary Brown for assignment.
It’s the third time since spring training that the former top prospect has been designated for assignment. Brown has batted just .202/.254/.331 at the Triple-A level this season.

Tigers claimed RHP Yoniel Curet off waivers from the Phillies.
Curet provides Detroit with some additional relief depth after being removed from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster last week. The 23-year-old righty figures to operate in long relief once he reaches the big leagues.
Twins 3B Lewis (knee) out for at least ten days
Eric Samulski analyzes Minnesota's depth after Royce Lewis is sidelined with a knee sprain and reveals which Twins players would most benefit fantasy managers while the third baseman is out.
  • DET Center Fielder #22
Tigers transferred OF Parker Meadows to the 60-day injured list.
Meadows hit the shelf last week with a fractured arm and a concussion following a collision with teammate Riley Greene. The 26-year-old center fielder is facing a lengthy absence. Javier Báez figures to see most of the reps in his place at least until top prospect Max Clark is ready.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #68
Cardinals designated LHP Jared Shuster for assignment.
Shuster had allowed two runs on two hits in 3 2/3 innings with a 1/2 K/BB ratio for the Cardinals this season. They needed a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan Fernandez, so Shuster was let go.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #64
Cardinals recalled RHP Ryan Fernandez from Triple-A Memphis.
Fernandez has thrown 5 2/3 shutout innings at Triple-A with a 6/2 K/BB ratio. That success hasn’t translated over to the big leagues yet, but perhaps this is the season.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #44
Nationals recalled RHP Jackson Rutledge from Triple-A Rochester.
Rutledge is off to a rough start in Triple-A, allowing three runs on four hits in five innings with a 1/5 K/BB ratio. His stay up in the big leagues may not be an overly long one.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #64
Nationals recalled RHP Orlando Ribalta from Triple-A Rochester.
The 28-year-old has allowed two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings in Triple-A with a 6/1 K/BB ratio. He has a 7.81 career ERA in 27 2/3 innings and will look to bring that down this season.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #52
Nationals placed LHP Ken Waldichuk on the 15-day injured list with left forearm tightness.
Waldichuk left Sunday’s game with an injury and appeared to be in real pain. A forearm diagnosis could sometimes be a precursor to Tommy John surgery, so the Nationals will hope for the best after some time to rest.
  • WSH Relief Pitcher #99
Nationals placed RHP Cole Henry on the 15-day injured list with a right rotator cuff strain.
Henry had a rough start to the season, and perhaps this explains it. No word yet on how long the 26-year-old will be out, but a rotator cuff strain is never great news for a pitcher.
  • BAL 1st Baseman #16
Coby Mayo is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Diamondbacks.
Mayo is just 6-for-38 on the season with one extra base hit and a 13/6 K/BB ratio. With Ryan Mountcastle (foot) now potentially out for over a month, Mayo should continue to get an opportunity to play regularly in Baltimore, but he’ll need to start producing soon before Jackson Holliday (hamate) returns to the lineup. For now, Blaze Alexander will start at third base and bat ninth.
  • PIT Designated Hitter #24
Marcell Ozuna is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Nationals.
Ozuna had started the last three games at designated hitter, but he is not a full-time player for the Pirates right now, while he’s off to a 3-for-43 start to the season. Bryan Reynolds will DH at bat third, while Jake Mangum will start in left field and bat eighth. Ozuna’s bat speed is up from last season, but he’s not hitting the ball hard or pulling the ball much right now. He doesn’t need to be rostered in most fantasy formats.
