Becerra is now off the Mets’ 40-man roster. The 23-year-old was once one of the better outfield prospects in the Met system, but he has yet to have an OPS above .734 in a level above Low-A, and hit just .267 with a .335 slugging percentage in High-A St. Lucie this year. Becerra was acquired from the Blue Jays in the R.A. Dickey deal back in December of 2012.

The Mariners didn’t have much to say about the injury after the game. Donovan left in the seventh inning after jamming his foot awkwardly on first base while trying to leg out a grounder. If Donovan is unavailable Saturday, the Mariners would likely start Leo Rivas at third base.

Not great. With MJ Melendez off to a bad start, Nick Morabito would seem to be the likely choice to come up from Triple-A Syracuse if Soto requires an IL stint. Soto left Friday’s game in the first inning after pulling up while running from first to third on a single.

It was a scoreless game until Young knocked in the automatic runner. He and Julio Rodríguez, who was intentionally walked, later added insurance by scoring on a Josh Naylor single. Young’s triple, which didn’t miss being a homer by much, was the only extra-base hit by either team tonight. It came off Brent Suter, making him 5-for-12 in lefty-lefty matchups to start the season. That’s pretty good from someone who figured to do a lot of sitting against southpaws this year.

The game remained scoreless until the 10th, so Woo was left with a second straight tough no-decision after striking out six and walking one. He’ll take a 1.38 ERA into his next start Wednesday against the Rangers.

Andrés Muñoz struck out the side in a 0-0 game in the ninth. The Mariners then scored three times in the top of the 10th to set Speier up for his first save in 2023 and second in 219 career appearances. Speier had allowed two runs in 2 1/3 innings to start the year, but he’s still one of the better bets for holds in the AL.

Although he worked two innings deeper into the game than he did last Saturday, Detmers averaged 94.4 mph with his fastball tonight, up from 93.6 mph in his opener and 93.9 mph this spring. Over the first three innings, he was right at 95 mph. He’s in a bad situation in Anaheim, but he might be a fringy mixed-league option anyway.

The Angels went on to lose in 10, but Romano did well once again, striking out Leo Rivas and J.P. Crawford. He should remain the clear favorite for saves in Anaheim until he blown a chance.

Donovan might have tweaked an ankle stepping on first base while trying to beat out a grounder. He’s probably day-to-day, but if it does turn out to be something significant, Colt Emerson could join the Mariners sooner than expected.

Soto singled in his lone at-bat and then came up a little lame running from first to third before being replaced by Tyrone Taylor in left field. He’s probably day-to-day, but he could DH a couple of times if it remains an issue this weekend.

Gray debuted with the Rays 2023 and returned to the organization last year after spending 2024 elsewhere. The Red Sox acquired him over the winter, but they traded him to the Twins in January when they realized they wouldn’t be able to sneak him through waivers. He’s 4-for-11 with eight RBI as Brooke Lee’s backup at shortstop this season, and though he hardly projects as a long-term regular, it’s worth wondering if he might be a better player than Lee against right-handers right now. It probably won’t matter much for fantasy purposes either way.
