Morales had arguably his best game of the season on Tuesday against the Mets, going 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, but he apparently injured his calf at some point during that tilt. He’ll probably be sidelined for at least two weeks. Mike Tauchman has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding 25-man roster move.

Ramírez being the third Guardians player leaving due to injury forced the Guardians to put Rhys Hoskins in left for his first outfield appearance since 2018. Kyle Manzardo replaced Hoskins at first base.

“Cole woke up yesterday, not feeling as well arm-wise,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “So, when he came out to play catch yesterday, he had to cut it short. So, we’re going to get him some more testing in the next couple of days.” Ragans hasn’t pitched since May 6 and had a 4.84 ERA in eight starts before landing on the injured list for what was originally expected to be a minimal stay.

Martínez departed Saturday’s game against the tigers an inning after fouling a ball off the foot and was replaced by Steven Kwan, who had been out of the lineup against Tarik Skubal.

DeLauter sustained the injury crashing into the wall in the top of the first and then left for a pinch-runner after singling in the bottom of the inning. It’s just the second injury of note for DeLauter this season; he missed one game in the second week of the season after fouling a ball off his foot. DeLauter’s 71 games this season are already a career high as a pro; in the minors, he played in 57 games in 2021, 39 in 2024 and 42 last year.

He had a two-run homer off Connor Prielipp as the second batter of the game, and he broke a 4-4 tie with the first of back-to-back homers with Jordan Walker in the seventh. It’s Herrera’s second career multihomer game, though he hit three the other time on Apr. 2, 2025. He has nine homers on the year, and he’s currently seventh in the majors with a .400 OBP.

Liberatore gave up two homers in the fourth and one more in the fifth before departing. That brings his season total of homers allowed to 14 in 14 starts. Last year, he allowed a total of 19 in his 29 starts. Liberatore will take a 3-3 record and a 4.71 ERA into his next turn versus the Royals.

O’Brien got the job done in the end, but not before making everyone pretty nervous. He also threw 31 pitches, which might take him out of play Sunday. O’Brien has allowed 13 earned runs, walked 10 and hit four batters over 17 innings in his last 17 appearances. He could bounce back, but those in deeper leagues on the hunt for saves might want to think about stashing George Soriano. He’s not taking over the job just yet, but he could close Sunday if O’Brien needs the day off.

Prielipp didn’t seem long for this one after giving up a two-run homer to the second batter he faced in the first and two more runs in the second, but he hung around and kept the Twins in the game despite managing just two strikeouts and giving up 12 hard-hit balls. He wound up leaving with the score tied after six, only to immediately watch the Cardinals hit three homers in a five-run seventh. Prielipp remains 2-4 with a 5.26 ERA. He should stay in the rotation for now and face the D-backs next week, but a move to the pen could be a possibility at some point if the Twins get some injured starters back.

The triple looked like a routine fly to right, but Austin Martin got worried about the wall and missed the ball. The homer was very legitimate, leaving Jordan’s bat at 110.2 mph and traveling a projected 418 feet to left-center. Jordan probably isn’t a third baseman for the long haul, but the Cardinals needed to give him a look, and if he shows he belongs, they can figure something out. He’s 4-for-8 so far.

It was a good day for Lewis, but the last at-bat was a bust; up with two on and one out in the bottom of the eighth, he swung at the first pitch he saw, a JoJo Romero changeup that was just off the plate, and produced a routine double play to half the Twins’ rally. Still, Lewis has now hit in six straight. He’s 10-for-26 with three homers and two doubles since returning to the majors.
